Virgin Atlantic Training

Hi all!

Just another hopeful here wondering if they pay you during training and if they will put you up in a hotel or B&B if your not from the area?

Thanks for your time,
Party_Girl

Hiya,

Yeah your training is paid at a basic rate (cant remember off hand how much) but accomodation definately not provided - but there are heaps of B&B's in the area!

Good luck... :ok:

Hey Sinala and the other exchagers!

Just about to hear the verdict on who will be joining you guys over there in November....we have all had our interviews and should know in the next few days.....

Did you guys all live out near the training centre for the whole of training or did some of you commute from your new places?

Here we go.......

Will let you know the outcome soon!!

Hey OzFlyboy!

Hmm I wonder if I know you - I probably do - I just dont know you by your Pprune name.....

Any word yet on the succesful candidates?

Training has moved since we did ours. When we trained, it was all done at the Virgin Flight Centre in Horley, which is about 5 minutes from Gatwick airport. The flight centre has since been closed down and all functions moved to The Base at Manor Royal (I think its there? Oh and Manor Royal is a place by the way, not a castle like I thought when I first heard of it!!! :p :O ). This too is about 5 minutes from Gatwick airport, however it may prove a little more difficult to find accomodation within walking distance of the training school (this is of course providing training is done there - I am pretty sure it is!)

I recommend you move into a Bed & Breakfast when you first get here, somewhere close to training. That way you wont have to buggerise about commuting long distances to and from training, and it gives you at least a few weeks to settle in and decide where you want to live etc.

Any succesful candidates looking for info feel free to PM me and I will forward on as much as I can for you.....

Any truth to the rumour you guys can work for Virgin Atlantic based out of Sydney on your return? I read somewhere else on these boards that something like 16 crew are already based in Sydney.

sinala1 26th Aug 2005 08:49

No there is not really any truth to that rumour unfortunately! To work for the VS SYD base you have to be a "permanent full time VA employee with the right to live and work in australia"... technically us secondees are still employed by VB and are just on a leave of absence, so they wont take us for the SYD base!
