BA or Virgin????

Hi All, new to this forum and know this is a bit of a tricky one but need some advice. If you had been offered a position with BA and Virgin, who would you go for? Know views will be a personal opinion but has any one worked for both airlines? Are either better to work for? Understand BA pay better but with Virgin straight into Long Haul and finding it really hard to make a decision..

Hi,

Having worked for both as crew I would say BA all the way. If you are only going to fly for a couple of years then go for VS as you will see the world quickly but at the price of any money.

If you are going to fly as a career long term than go BA. Better money to start and the wait for long haul LHR is only around 2 years at the mo. Then you will realy see the whole world. And BA Shorthaul is great fun with plenty of nightstops too.

BA

Good Money.
Good Prospects.
Strong Union Membership.
BA hasn't made cabin crew redundant even during the first gulf war.
Great network.
Excellent company all in all.

I've been at VS for the past 6 months and I'm having a fantastic time! After flying two years of short haul, the thrill of going straight into long haul and seeing the world on beautiful big planes is unbelievable! Having gone from turbo props where I had to duck every time I walked under an exit sign, I still have to pinch myself when I'm walking up the jetway onto the 744! I love the Virgin image, the brand, and the on board product is truely unique.

....Having said that, the money is shockingly bad compared to other airlines. I was a purser in my last airline so I've taken a pay cut of approx £400 p/month. At the moment the lifestyle is fabulous and I'm still excited everytime I go to a new place, but if I'm honest (and realistic) I can see myself looking at other airlines again in another 12-18 months.

Good luck!!

BA

Hi!

Well I'm at the end of week 3 of my training course and I'd say definitely BA! They're so professional, friendly, smart, well paid and excellent working conditions. I worked for 3 airlines before and BA is way ahead

I have friends at VS (one stil on training) and most give back negative comments about the airline.

However its what you want at the end of the day. As someone said a few messages above, Virgin is a good way of seeing the world short term. But for a career I'd say BA... as you're set up for life

:)
