Regie from big brother is a virgin!

Flight Attendant that is!

I saw a news article down here in Tassie that Regie from Big Brother has become a Virgin Blue Flight attendant. She had her first flight yesterday I think.

I wonder what it would be like having her on a flight, if she gets recognised all the time? I suppose it would beat cooking fish and chips!!

Yes she went through training with a guy I know.
Their first flights were this week.

It will be a pain in the ass after a while for her, some pax will be relentless stare bears.

Nothing else to watch on DJ, F/A's are the entertainment.

Sadly some have little or no virgin flair, faces like a slapped arse!

Good luck to her, hope she likes it?

Sorry to jump to another semi famous person but didn't Susie Maroney (the long distance swimmer) become a Qantas flight attendant not too long ago? I remember reading that she was short listed or something. Is she flying with Qantas?

lemmegetback2u 15th Dec 2004 05:03

that's right people it would appear that the only way to get a full time job under normal conditions is to be a cracked out broken down marathon swimmer.. or a complete flake from Tasmania at the end of her five minutes of fame...

Reggie was actually sitting at my table at a DJ recruitment day back in May.. no question she was going to get hired.. no matter how many times she said the word f*** virgin flair for her... police called for everyone else.. anyway she was one the best people that I have ever spoken too.. so I wish her well..

actually i think ms maroney told a few porky pies and got a bit carried away with herself. seems she never got any further than the shortlist but was giving media interviews telling people she had been given training dates and knew before anyone else that she would be doing LH. Caused a bit of an uproar from those who had been waiting longer as it seemed she was receiving special treatment.
Anyway, regardless of what happened, she didnt get past the shortlist and like many of the hundreds of people in the same position has prob not been contacted since.

I remember her from my time in AUZ, seemed a complete fruitcake to me but she had a terrific bod but didnt she work in a chippie?

SkySista 16th Dec 2004 04:14

would love to know if she would have been accepted had she not been on tv....

thought she came across as a bit 'airheaded' in the interview, however i haven't seen her on BB so it may have been the editing. well she is in so good luck to her, just hope she didn't jump the queue before those waiting longer....

they should just make a PA and say "in case you are wondering, yes, it is reggie etc etc.... feel free to say hello but please remember she is here to do a job..." poor girl won't get any work done otherwise!!!

QF skywalker 16th Dec 2004 04:39

Is she BNE or MEL based ?

Sinala1/Smile - make sure you work her hard when she is on your crew ! I think the rear 2 toilets need a good scrub ;) ;) ;)

OZcabincrew 16th Dec 2004 05:02

that's not nice!!!!!!!

i heard long ago she was in with Virgin, maybe she had just been waiting on the shortlist for just as long as the others? i don't know?

Should be plenty of pics in your local paper, the PR machine will no doubt be in overdrive with such a high profile and high calibre recruit.

:ok:

How funny

Not trying to sound like a bitch but for those who watched the report on Today Tonight, How funny was it when Reggie was showing the reporter her safety demo and said "And this is what I do when I show them where the wings are". She mean the exits!!!! Apart from that I think that she will be good at the job, seemed like everyone likes her and she said that it had always been her dream to be a flight attendant but she was too 'small' for all the other airlines. Lucky Reggie...and lucky Virgin Blue for all the publicity that they are getting from it!;)

OzDJCabinCrew 17th Dec 2004 08:53

I must admit, when I first heard about her joining Virgin Blue, I was a bit sceptical about her only getting through because she had been on Big Brother, but after seeing the Today Tonight special they did on her, i've changed my opinion and I think she will be fantastic as cabin crew with DJ!

Good luck to her!

She has been waiting a long time to get an interview and it seems she has received no preferential treatment I am informed.
However I am suspicious DJ are using her profile to their own end.

Remember all the BB contestants have gone through rigourous testing which included psych, personality and a range of interviews similar to airline before selection to be one of 12!

If she did not get through DJ I would have been VERY suprised as she would have had to of displayed "Virgin flair" to have been chosen for the show. :} :} :}

Keep an eye out for Sara- Maree AU (BB1) next year on a dancing show (CH:seven) shhh! I did not tell you. ;)

OZcabincrew 17th Dec 2004 16:43

I think Reggie was a fantastic safety advertisement for DJ on the tv the other night, especially when your cabin crew don't know where the exits and doors are, haha. I think she'll be great with the passengers once she settles in, but come EP's, now that will be interesting!!!

Let's give the girl a break..she is a hard working Aussie who got the job she wants..and I've been in it long enough to know three uni degrees are not needed to do it very, very well.

Big Hairy Potatoes 23rd Dec 2004 00:08

Let's look at this realistically through the following points:

1. With initial training at VB I think you have to pass something like 7 or 8 exams with more than 80% pass. CASA regs

2. VB performance manage their crew through training fairly intensly, so if she wasn't up to it she wouldn't be there.

3.She is a very funny girl who has a heart of gold who fits the VB recruitment model

Bottom line, give the girl a break

Stepping of my milk crate now............

in related 'news',

there is an article about Reggie in this weeks' Woolworths magazine. Pictures of her during inflight service, on the steps on the plane, etc etc.... the usual PR type stuff....

Will scan for anyone who's interested in seeing/reading it. (PM & I can send it)

I'm curious, are any PPRuneR's in that crew pic? :p

As for why she was chosen:

"When we first started, 10,000 people applied. Anyone suitable is put into an application bank, so there are thousands on it. Reggie impressed with her teamwork abilities and hospitality experience. We look for the right attitude, and she has it. She's really sweet, and she's doing so well." (From the article)
This is a scan with only the pictures legible, for obvious reasons (don't want to break any rules here, I totally acknowledge that this article is the property of Woolworth's Fresh magazine...etc etc.... fo and buy it, it's really good ;) )
