Just noticed on aviationjobserach that JAL are recruiting for Cabin Crew.

I was just wondering if any one knows what it is like to work for etc !

Don't bother if you have got any tattoos. A friend of mine got all the way through the selection process, they offered him the job, then asked if he had any tattoos. When he replied in the affirmative they withdrew the offer. Yakuza connection you see.

I have heard on the CC grapevine that French fluency is an essential requirement for JAL Europe. Just to let you know as I wouldn't want you to waste your time applying if you don't feel your French is up to scratch!

I do speak french, spanish and italian fluent, but i have 3 tattoos, do you think i have a chance?????

If the tats aren't visible when wearing the uniform, it's not a problem.I know people who work for JAL and they have tats as well. Do you always tell the truth in an interview?
My brother likes working for them,it's a good airline, better then ANA with its limited destinations etc

Been there, done that! Had 5 & half happy years. Left about 2 months before they announced that the contracts were changing to full-time (I was on the 5 year one).
The language speakers are necessary because the pax are demanding it. If you are fluent with Italian & Spanish I would apply too, there are Milan/Rome to Narita flights, also a codeshare with Iberia that goes via Ams, so they need the Spanish for them. Also there were several Dutch crew.
Routes changed abit whilst I was there, we lost the RTW trips, and I'm not sure what's on the cards for SYD.
If you are successful, the training takes a little getting used to. 5 weeks in LHR then about 6 or 7 weeks in Tokyo (you stay in NRT then it's a lovely 2hr trip every morning & evening by coach to Haneda) Then it's a month of supernumeries - although that's only about 8 flights. Be prepared to go back to school! Slightly subserviant and don't battle the system. Most of all enjoy the culture. Go for it!:ok:

5weeks training in LHR then another 6 or 7 in Tokyo.....Just out of curiousity, what do you guys learn about for SO long???

I'm ex crew, so I know about the standard 5 or so weeks that most airlines have but just wondered what other training you have to undertake for it to be stretched out so long! I knew a couple of people that worked for JL and said that breifings were in Japanese, so I imagine you'd have to do a language course of some description (aviation related).

Spot on! Language is a big part of the training course as most Europeans don't know any Japanese at all, and if they do it generally isn't polite enough!
The other reason is that they spend a lot of time on cabin service - as you might expect. Unlike some airlines where you start at the bottom (economy cabin) and gradually work your way up, foreign JAL crews have to be able to do everything from the start. Nothing like a full LHR-NRT flight to make sure you learn very quickly!
You can generally guarantee that for 1 sector you will be galley-san, atleast there aren't any ovens involved!

if you have any tattoos just say no they are not going to bodily search you are they?

Should'nt think having tattoos would be a problem. It obviously depends what we are talking about here ie visable or not. Bearing in mind you will have to take a strict medical so if anything by fibbing, it will show on your medical results. Word of advice you speak fab languages so this is far more important for JAL than a few hidden tattoos. If they like you, have excelllant lang skills and experience to offer them, I really dont think these 'tattoos' are going to be a prob.

JAL is a excellant company to work, have enjoyed the past 5.5 yrs there. We have about 200 LHR based cabin crew, all of which are fab. We have some excellant crew working there and as we all know it is not just about flying to lovely destinations, it is about working, trusting, being adaptable and having a great time with your fellow crew members.

Put it another way, if you looked around the pool/on the beach down route plenty of the crew had tattoos, as long as your clothes cover them there shouldn't be a problem.

Is there a top age limit to join JAL as CC? I´ve once heard they dont take FA´s over 25???

I was 27 when I joined! Not giving my age away now or anything!:hmm:

Hi Guys and Gals

I am in the process of applying to JAL, and as far as I can see from their recruitment criteria there is NO upper age limit. That is why I am going for it...currently I am too old to apply for Virgin so that will give you a clue. Anyone in the know of info otherwise then let me know so I don't waste my time,......however it is nearly finished and winging it's way from the Post Office. Also it has to be one of the simplest Application Forms I have filled in to date.

We have had crew start JAL in their early 30's, and still flying so my answer to you is that it shouldnt be a prob at all. Most crew at JAL are in their late 20,s early 30,s
