L10-11 Crew?

We are on the verge of retiring the last of our, oldy but goody, L10-11's. I've really grown fond of them but it's not hard to see that their day in the sun has come and gone. Any bodyelse out there still crewing these proud birds?

I have never had the chance to pax in one these aircraft but I was just wondering what the rear galley area would be like? Unlike the MD-11/DC10 aircraft the rear engine forces air out on an angle.

as far as i know most 1011s only had toilets at the back - galleys were fwd, mid and the underfloor.

yikes the lavs in the rear must have been loud!

Yeah they were pretty loud. The row of lavs down the back known as penny lane.
I loved the L1011, that ufg was a great place to escape from demanding pax.
Will be sorry to see them go, the RAF still use theirs

Tristars

The good old L1011 was indeed a pleasure to work on - when it wasn't tech in it's latter years.

The -50 and -100 versions that I worked on at Caledonian had forward, mid, aft and underfloor (UFG) galleys.
They had five toilets at the very rear of the aircraft (commonly refered to as "Penny Lane", as mentioned by Jade) and either two or three toilets at the front of the aircraft.

I certainly enjoyed many good years and trips on board the Tristars. I did have a few nightmares too, but those memories are definitely outweighed by the good times.

Love Them

I am sad I will never get to crew one of these beauties, I rode on the lump seat of one of BWIA's riggs a couple of times,

I just loved the space and the finish of the flightdeck, and yes all the way in the back the curved wall formed by the toilets doors.

Great flightdeck escape system

hate to see them go.
