Who's the best to work for: easy or ryanair ?
 
I'd love to hear from the people who actually work or have worked for the company how it is to work for them. I'v heard prejudices enough about them. Now I would really love to hear from the actual employees.

I'm not an employee for either but I can tell you a few things.

Don't know anything about ryan air but I used to work for easyJet having been a previous Go employee before the take over. In my experience there is a lot of management style issues. The money is good, promotion prospects good but you work bloody hard for your money so you feel as if you live on the aircraft with the six days on three off. They also tend to start you on earlies and finish you on lates. I have heard that they have addressed some of the issues and you are not being called out on sby continually, which is what was happening. Hope this helps.:D

yip i'm an slave to easyjet and, well, i love it!!! the six and three is the working pattern but there are a few sby in there and i'm hardly ever call so you can end up at home more days than at work. And i love not calling the captain, captain, its steve mike or rodger. Its all very open and thats a style i like, no monarch dragons or waiting years to move up ranks, it seems very crew orientated. Not that im Bias but for your mental and physical well being, just stay clear of RyanAir. Trust me its never worth it!!!!

EZY is a great company to work for... fixed roster patterns, great crews, night stops, promotion prospects and the moneys not bad either! Pity no one from Ryanair has posted a reply...are they worried about going bankrupt?

I have read articles from several aeronautics analysts saying only one Low cost would survive.

My bet is it will be EasyJet. Much sounder. And MOL being such a butthole it can only be a major satisfaction to any pilot desiring better treatment.

I have worked for both. easyJet wins by far!!!!! Fantastic crews, great atmosphere, passengers love the crews jokes and antics. Ryan treat you like slaves and are crap. Don't look after staff at all. very relaxed atmosphere at easy and going back to work for them after a year at GB. Miss them too much!!!!

Close friend of mine worked for RYR a couple of years ago and hated it so left after a few months. Always called in on sby, no team spirit with other cabin crew members but flight deck were OK, worked very hard with no recognition, basic pay was poor but made up by reasonable commission.

Having flown both with Easy and RYR it is noticeable Easy crews seem happier.

Tudor - I am for real! can prove it with over 85 letters of compliments from pax of how good their flight was and crews were great laugh and 'one of them'. Not as one lady puts it ' stuck up and think they are better than you'. please feel free to ask for copies and I will mail them to prove

I don't doubt for one minute you've had complimentary letters and I know myself that most EZY crew are down to earth and willing to share a laugh with the pax during the service etc but "jokes and antics" might be going a little OTT!

Sadly the pa-happy people who think they're funny very rarely are and for every pax that laughs there's usually two or three not laughing. Some of them have no idea how to judge an audience and seem intent on appealing to the moronic minority. I beleive behaviour like that belongs in a holiday camp not on an aircraft!

And anybody who expects everybody's attention for the safety demo and then proceeds to crack jokes (ie. "your lifejacket whistle is to attract the attention of passing sailors") well, to be perfectly frank they deserve to be shot!

Anyway I'll get off my soapbox now, what was the original question?! I work for EZY and whilst they're far from perfect there's a lot worse around and, if what I've heard from other people is correct, Ryanair is one of them.

Good luck anyway, whatever you choose to do.

well who ever jokes in the safety demo should be sacked anyway, as it is against CAA regs. Sou take it you haven't been there long enough to have witnessed the crews hiding in overhead lockers on boarding etc???? It does happen and is a great laugh. What about telling a group of guys who are mis behaving that the callbell light is infact a camera, and all their movements are being recorded, Playing bingo, guess tha age of the crew etc? Ezy crews have great fun with the pax, and a vast majority of the pax fly with us because they are so laid back. You'll be suprised of the goings on. You know when the airconditioning leaks after take off- tell them that we had to use the life rafts the day before, and they must still be drying out!!! Immense fun to be had with the pax!!

I'm an EZY boy, and like most crew, I love it, EXCEPT for the rosters. Flying 4 sectors a day (ie about 10-12 hours flying) is really hard work. However relaxed style, good promotion prospects, pretty good money, fantastic crew all make up for that. Unfortunatley while Ryanair are about to flog their crew to death, easy will have to follow suit to offer competative fares.

About the whole humour and joking with pax thing. Yes, some crew are really funny, some are REALLLY NOT funny, and most of us are in between. No one should mess about in the demo, its company SOPs to read it as it is written. However, having a joke with the pax is what gives us an image of relaxed and approachable crew, as apposed to being stuck up. If some pax don't find it funny, you can't please everyone, but it is worth it in the end for the relaxed atmosphere onboard.

Jetteson, for your information I've been with EZY for over two years at two different bases so don't try telling me what things are like at my own company.

In a previous thread (interview tips for bmi) about two weeks ago you stated and I quote, "...for the last 6 maybe 7 months I have taken home no less than £1550 monthly..." working as SCCM with EZY.

However all of a sudden you've been working for GB for the last year!!! Do you know who you actually work for?

There's a fine line between being good-humoured and f***ing about and if you don't know where that line is then you shouldn't be working on an aircraft.

If you're intent on leaving GB/EZY/Ryanair or whoever you happen to be working for this week, I hear Butlins are recruiting children's entertainers, that'd be more up your street...

Ok smart git Tudor - let me explain a thing or 2. I have been working for gb fpr he past year - on my days off ( which has been approved by Dianne wainwright, and the now departed Trevour slade ) I work 2 days a week for the cabin safety and standards dept. Which means I am a mystery shopper on board various flights. I do however still work for easy, and will continue to do so. Shame you don't get much pay, maybe thats cause no one can work with you with an attitude like that!

Never mind you've given plenty of people in our crew room a good old laugh with your recent postings...keep them up!!! You're priceless!!!

Can you just clarify something for me? You claim you are a Mystery Shopper for easyJet? Or is it GB? :confused: Reason I ask is that I work for easyJet and I've made a number of calls all around many departments including Cabin Services, On-Board Product and Marketing and they say that we definitely do not have a mystery shopper programme here other than one or two of the existing crew who fly around observing flights.........

I may have read it wrong though....Im not sure.

Would anyone reading this please have a look at the thread titled "GB Recruitment". On 15th February there is a posting from my 'friend' Jetteson. It states, "Can anyone tell me what the rostering is like. Do you have a set pattern eg 5 on 2 off? It would help if someone could give me an example of their roster for a week". Yet one day later s/he states on this thread, "...I have been working for GB for the past year..."!!! So you've not sussed out the roster pattern after been there for a year?

Listen to me...you are a sad, pathetic, confused, attention seeking individual. I seriously advise you to seek professional medical help sooner rather than later. I feel you deserve sympathy rather than ridicule.

Additionally, easyJet has NOT got a mystery shopper program nor has it EVER had one. And if I were you I'd be very cautious as to whose name you bandy around this forum. Because if I ever saw my name on here implicated in someone's little fantasy I'd do my utmost to find out who that person was and when I did they had better watch their backs.

Don't bother replying to this 'cos I've actually had enough of your crap - just go and get some help.
