I need a meal cart for my kitchen!!

Hi everybody.... I need to make my kitchen as "airplaneish" as possible...

I would like to have a meal cart (full trolley) but apart from an ebay guy selling them i haven't found anything else...
Does anybody know where to find 'em? What do airlines do with old meal carts?

It's very hard to find info on this, hope some of u got some idea!!!

many happy landings!
ciao

Oh !! galleygirl,

How desparate you could be !!! :)

Do you still wanna bring the Aircraft stuff home to your kitchen?

It is however a new idea and frankly speaking it would be fantastic to know at a later stage how things look in your kitchen!

Sorry,no ideas where to buy them from.but good luck with your galley kitchen! :ok:

Let us know how things go!!

advice

Call your nearest airline catering centre they can point you in the right direction. Often they have ones that are no longer serviceable you could take one.

galleygirlAPU 21st Dec 2003 16:28

see? it's not impossible to have them....i also know people who have meal carts at home....therefore I could have them as well. I'm contacting some people I know who work at the airport and in the catering company. Let's see if I can manage to have one!!!
What about Xmas eve dinner with a big meal cart in my dining room? Fantastic I would say.....
Cabin crew ready for take off!!!

should u have any other ideas....here I am!!!

i didn't mean stealing

I wasn't suggesting any stealing at all. You can buy the carts to be custom made to fit your kitchen. I suggest the ACF carts they have 2 shelves in them and a top little shelf that is handy for stowing away utensils. Contact your nearest airline catering group.

Tart Cart

I know of a company who no longer operate but have an abundance of various carts in various conditions and are selling off everything to pay their administrators.

Also try ILS-SMART.com this is where every Airline gets new and used parts from.

OMG, I totally love this idea!!! hahaha!! I've been thinking of ways in which I can make my new room in London look nice, and I'm liking this idea of an airliner theme! How appropriate! :)

Great idea!!!!!

galleygirlAPU 21st Dec 2003 19:36

all this is amazingly great...thanx everybody for the info.... i would like to have rows of seats as well but my flat is already full of furniture I can't get rid of and the only think fitting would be a meal cart...or even a galley standard unit....
And over my bed I could mount some hatracks to stow my t-shirts...

AIRWAY 22nd Dec 2003 20:06

Hello

Next time there's a concorde auction just go for it :ok:

Or

( And for Sarah747 ) maybe you can try the shop at BA's Compass Centre, you might find something usefull there :} for your aviation theme.

WEBLUEIT 22nd Dec 2003 21:02

Perhaps a few minatures might help make it real - not that I'm suggesting you take them off the aircarft!!

The supermarkets funnily enough sell the cans of minerals at half the price of what the airlines charge!!! And theres more variety as well

galleygirlAPU 23rd Dec 2003 02:48

hi mates...my friends who are encharged with the search of the trolley haven't found anything yet.... meanwhile my mother is truly concerned about not finding it. my sister (a cc as well) says that i'm crazy...
the idea of miniatures is not bad...that would make my kitchen airplane style
i have two meal trays from the airplane and I use them in the fridge: when i put them on the table a voice says "chicken or pasta?"

sorry about my ignorance, but what is the ba's compass center shop? where is it? what does is sell?

don't stop your imagination...let's go on dreaming about my galley kitchen!!

galleygirl,

I'll ask a friend of mine who's in charge of the catering in an italian airline and let you know.

qfmike737 25th Dec 2003 07:25

a little dream of mine

I've wanted to post this dream before but I have held off because I thought people would think i'm a bit of a nut...but I think it's the right time now..being xmas day and all!

One of my dreams has always been to open up a restaraunt chain called something like "Heathrows Intl" or something where people eat in Airline type seating with 3 choices of class so there is some form of segratation...oh u gotta love it!..economy, business and first class cabins with every window having a view of some projected footage of certain flights taxiing through different international ports flying day and night depending on the time of day.

Customers would be given boarding passes which they could buy in advance or be given as a gift then all they have to do is book their flight.

Upon arrival they walk down a aerobridge and are seated by crew and there will be waiters dressed as a flight attendants inside waiting to serve them. All through the meal service there will be different flight attendants dressed in different uniforms for example there could be one dressed in the Thai Airlines uniform with a trolley with authentic thai food and then another flight attendant dressed in say Alitalia serving Italian cuisine. How fully cute is that!!! we could have the most multicultural crew ever!!!

Customers in ecomomy may just be customers that want a really quick meal for lunch etc so they have preset meals like a normal airline so they can come and go and eat. Business class can be for a slightly more formal occassions like family dinners or business lunches with the same meal service as first class. It would be like a buffet with all u can eat from the trolleys.

In first class it's tailored more for speacial occasions and functions. For example weddings or business functions. Powerpoint presentations could be made over the personal audio/video equipment and projector screens. Conferences would never be the same again!!!

Some people may never be able to fly first class but....now we can allow people to have a little taste of it!!

Anyone want to go into a partnership business with me??

Merry Xmas everybody!! Unfortunately I didn't receive the meal cart I asked Santa Claus...

anyway, mates....

Flyblue...grazie for the info, waiting for some more news. r u italian, by the way?

qfmike...when i told my sister I wanted a meal cart for our kitchen she said that an airplane-style restaurant would be great. more or less the same idea u had. trays for "economy class" with kinda fast food meal, and so on.

I know there is a Mc donalds in Rome which looks like airplane interiors, never been there, but i could find some info about it just to see how it looks.
