Virginblue assessment day
 
Hey guys, just wondering if its true that when you attend a assessment day and if your successful, they contact you that same afternoon? I went to one on Tuesday and thought I did well, but have not received a phone call yet! Anyone know how long it usually takes?

Hi Nikki,

When I went through my initial interviews the turn around time was very very quick.

These days the process has slowed down somewhat.

eg-- my whole interview process took 4 days from first interview to job offer

and my friend who has been with us for about 1.5 months now-- her interview process took about 2 months.

So don't get too stressed just yet.

hi nikki,i have just been accepted by vb and the whole process took about 4 months.i have some friends who have had their assessment day and were e-mailed 2 weeks later to let them know they have a second interview but in about 6 weeks.their e-mail was sent about 2 weeks ago.i think the recruiting team have gone up to bne to do interviews up thereand will return soon to melbourne.the waiting does your head in i know!hang in there and i hope to see you in a little beige number soon!

What To Wear?
 
What do u suggest the guys wear to a DJ interview?Do you have to be really loud, energetic and "out there"? If you're not the loudest etc, do u still have a chance? How many interviews etc, is the shortlist long? Is it anything like Qantas, interviews happening like once a year? this is month 8 of the shortlist with QF & i think theres a lot more waiting ahead of me???I JUST WNT TO FLY-WHEN ARE DJ COMING TO PERTH?

I suggest you wear busness attire, nice suit and skirt and if your hair is long tie it up. Be very friendly my group was soo quiet I was the first one to make conversation and decisions. Dont be too lound let everyone have say. The main things they look for is personality, confidence, how well you work in a group and how you present yourself. Aslo smile and look interested, hope these tips will help you. Not to sure when they are recruiting in Perth but good luck anyway!:D

In regards to your initial application. When you send the photos, are they to be "informal" photos, because the only photos i have are the ones i sent to Qantas, suit etc. They're not going to not bother with me because of that would they? I've been told not to be too formal at a DJ interview, but i don't want to look under dressed? If i wear a suit to a DJ interview, they're not going to think i'm the wrong person for the job straight off will they (too formal etc?) Probably stupid questions i know, i just don't want to get it wrong. What have you all found the guys to wear at a DJ interview? PLEASE HELP!

PS- When will DJ be recruiting? There wouldn't be a 12 month shortlist/waiting period would there?

With my application I didnt send any photos, but I suggest you go for the formal ones, but make sure you smiling in them. For males I would say go for the suit as you still want to look proffessional and presentation is important. Virgin are pretty constant with there recruitment and no shortlists apply.

How wrong I was
 
I would like to say how wrong I was, I recieved an e-mail from Virgin stating I was unsuccessful:( Did not even make it to a one on one interview. I dont understand what dj are looking for, I was very friendly and initiated most acitives in my group still making sure everyone had a turn. I also have experience as currently working for a priviate charter company. Plus I have the virgin look, blonde hair blue eyes. I guess that doesn't matter. What the hell are they looking for? Can any dj F/A give me some tips on how they went and what they wore ect? Sorry Ozcabincrew probably giving you all the wrong info:ugh:

Wear business attire - a suit whether you are male or female.

Girls have your hair up or if shorter, in a tidy style with a natural looking product. Boys, clean and tidy, freshly cut.

All of the people who made it to interview I know recently were as above.

hi gang!i went through as i said and i wore a suit but not such a stiff looking navy job!zip up jacket and i actually wore boots to make me feel a bit more 'funky' as thats what i was told they wanted.i am not the typical stereotype either.brunette and shall we say a size 12!heaven forbid!sorry nikki b for your knock back,it's is so frustrating i know.these group interviews are so hard to gauge and you know if you could only get that first one on one they would see how purfect you are!keep at it though!i believe they advertised again this weekend for ground and cabin crew in mel papers.is it worth trying for ground staff to get that foot in?!

Are virgin blue actually gonna recruit in Perth? Its a shame if they don't. Their website by the way still insists they are recruiting in brisbane? Have they moved on or is their website lagging behind in the times?

Don't be so negetive Queentual, if the making of the airline has gotten this far then anything is possible be positive. Do we get any other information about it... fleet? crew? when hiring? Anyway best of luck:ok:

Revival of a dead horse - not exactly but one step better.
 
The new airline's business plan is currently on track. The dead horse? Well, it does still have DNA and DNA can be modified.

We'll take the best that Ansett had to offer and modify those aspects that could have been better.

There are over 45 consultants (Ansett People) working in teams on the venture and each has a vision and a purpose to make it happen.....and take care of any problems.
