Highly unlikely. Short Haul is about to become short of crew as there is an increase in flying from April onwards. They are recruiting in Perth and probably on the East Coast soon also. Plus they will be actioning base transfers including out of Cairns to better utilise crew.

They are asking people to return any leave (LS and AL) to cope with the increased flying coming up.

What flitegirl said. It's about to become ultra busy at SH.

Let's hope this time they give us higher density patterns (PLEASE!). Day off drafting and leave recall does not sit well whilst everyone is rostered 2 to 6 hour days.

there is no money for VR and the pay back period when recruiting crew on the scale is about 7-9 years so they wont be doing that in a hurry.

The company's position currently is.." if those old beehives wont leave they will start dying on the job, we are not paying them thousands to go, if they are over it then feel free to resign"

Beehives has a capital 'B', thanks Pegasus747

Do you have any idea how BORING domestic would be without them??

the pay back period when recruiting crew on the scale is about 7-9 years
I do not understand what do you mean by the above? "Please explain..."

Lol, Ditzboy, how true! Gotta love those Beehives. I actually like it when I happen to fly with one...rare on my seniority unfortunately :-(

I think what Pegasus means is that 7-9 years is what it takes to get any monetary value out of training/maintaining a flight attendant position. For what they are putting into you financially, it would not be cost effective to pay out
lump sums to crew that may have been there for less.

So, does this spell the beginning of the end for CNS base? I cant see a future for them if they are being transferred out bit by bit. Its sad for those that are from CNS but the company, being what they are, have been acting way out of character keeping CNS open this long seeing it is basically a JQ port.

OK, I see now. I got confused as I heard that it took only two years to recover the money - but that is for TeamJQ etc.

It is called environmental conditioning. You make the conditions and work environment such that your workers stay long enough to recover the cost of their training and then leave at their own accord.

A few years ago (2003?), Aer Lingus was the subject of leaked documents detailing the environmental conditioning required to have their cabin crew leave at their own accord.
