Staff travel at BA Terminal 5

Apologies to the moderators if this is the wrong place. I am travelling standby from Dublin onwards to Vancouver with BA.

Can any crew let me know how Staff travel works in Terminal Five, haven't flown standby with BA before so not sure what to expect. Cheers

I commute so use staff travel in T5 all the time, its very easy to do!
Check in for your YVR at any self service kiosk, if you dont get a seat (usually the case) head up towards the north end of T5 (Zone A) where you will see a door located adjacent to Cafe Nero, go through the door and follow signs to staff travel, you will see a waiting room with on the left with loads of info screens, just wait in their till you see your booking reference on the screen and it says something along the lines of "accepted" beside it then proceed to the room oposite where you can get ya boarding card and check your bags in.

if your travelling on paper tickets (not sure we still do them for BA staff travel) then you'd prob have to check in with check in assistance or at a self service bag drop

And when you do get a seat, run like hell to get through security because if you are not "airside" by 30 minutes before departure you will be automatically offloaded! You may only get 5 minutes between getting a seat and getting airside. Be warned!

Bit of an exaggeration there. You only have to get to boarding pass check at the entrance to security, you do not have to be airside to make conformance.

If you are travelling with bags to check in, you need to go to the bag drop after using the kiosk to check in. You need to have your bag tagged and passport etc checked before going to staff travel. We're told to use the bag drops in zone A.

What are the time frames to list for your BA flight? Is it within 24 hours but not later than 1 hour before departure? I have to pick up tickets the same afternoon as travelling (about 3 hrs before departure)- they are not BA issued tickets. I won't have internet access- is there any at T5 landside?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Yup. Cafe Nero right at the door leading to the Staff Travel office. Departures level, north end of the building - Zone A.

About four or five internet kiosks.

If I were you, though, I'd head through the door leading to the staff travel office and when you spot the office on your LEFT you'll see a door opposite marked "RED DESK/BLUE DESK" or similar. Head in there and speak to one of the staff and ask them to list you on the flight. It'll be easier and they'll be able to give you an indication as to availability.
