Airline Films - Any Help?
Hi guys,
Can anyone help me out with a list of airline film? Im trying to compile a list, so far I have:
Raid on Entebee
Airplane
Delta Force
View from the top
Can anyone give any input, would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe this is cheating, but I recommend the Moka (Movie Keyword Analyser) at the Internet Movie Database.
Go to the keywords section of IMDB at
http://www.imdb.com/Sections/Keywords/
and then search for airline. This function is supposed to be for finding the title of movies when all you can remember is a few plot points.

TURBULENCE - A rather cheesy yet enjoyable story about the "lonely heart killer" or something like that played by Ray Liota (sp?). He is arrested and ends up being sent from I think NY to LA.
They are on a 747 with only about a dozen pax on it. Holly Hunter plays the heroine flight attendant who has to land the 747 after Ray runs amock and kills the pilots and majority of the crew.
It's a very daft story but very enjoyable to watch.

View from the Top - very very cheesy, tongue in cheek film with Gwyneth Paltrow following her dream to become an international flight attendant! it's a marmite film though, you'll either love it or hate it!

My bestest...
The High and the Mighty (1954) starring John Wayne, Claire Trevor, Robert Stack from the Ernest K. Gann novel: Includes one of my favorite quotes of all time:
The original Airport (1970) starring everybody in Hollywood, remains pretty hard to beat and the ideal sunday afternoon feet up on the sofa movie. Reminds me of how flying and crews used to be, and sadly never will be again.

As posted previously, the Movie Data Base (www.imdb.com) is a good source.
Type "aviation", "airline" etc in the search field and click "keyword" on the drop-down menu.
You will get around 1500 titles. More if you dig around a little.
By the way, some of the best "movies" are actually made as TV films. "Pandora's Clock" (1996) for example is great. There are also many documentary-style TV dramas made ("Mayday" and "Black Box" series) that dal with various disasters, crashes and other accidents.

Pretty shocking to be honest, but the most fun i've had in a cinema. The whole audience was clapping at parts when she was beating the evil man.

Maybe not an actual airline but certainly a commercial operation and some good flying action. Apparently panned by the movie world because us lot prefer the aircraft to the acting !
