Contract Terms

Does anybody know what the contract says about if you don't like it and decide to leave? Do you have to pay back the ticket? Are you obligated to stay there a certain amount of time? Just want to know what I'm getting myself into.

ehy

don't worry, miss pepsi, i will be there to save your life...LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL

So, i m sure that the news comers might freak out, when we read what CC23 is writing...

Personnaly, I have to say that not evrybody is "made" to live overthere..you like or you dont like that, so that you want to come back home...

You know sometimes, here at home, sometimes i have creatures too....so, anywhere, you might have littles creatures popping out...
So, about accomodations, I ve seen EY appartements, and i have to say, they are really really nice, big, well furnished....so, and they are building news buildings, etc..so the new comers (i will be one of you guys) will get very nice and new appartments.....with or without creatures..LOLL
Of course, living in AUH will be vey different than living in Europe or in teh USA..but then you will have to be flexible and adapt ...
So, thinka bout how many people are dreaming of working in AUH, and for EY, so we can be really fortunate I think...so, and personnaly, i dont mind to make compromisses, so like me here, i m getting rid of my nice house, my car, motorbike, and all my stuff, i; will arrive in AUH with my little suitcase, that is it..but i know it s worth it..
And what you say about the company, i dont want to judge something i dont know...

so, CC23 and the rest, keep hnaging in there, every thing will be ok

Good luck

I'm afraid that I have gained some weight after the interview
Does weight really matter?? Cuz I gained a lot!! of weight....
So how do you calculate Weight proportion to height.

Hi Veronica1011

how are you????? hope you are fine!
Well, i got the "happy to inform you---" letter,I have to wait few weeks for another approvals...

Concerning your weight, you can calculate it using this site http://www.distrimed.com/divers/page_poids.htm ,as you speak a little French ,you will be able to use it...it's not complicated at all! you will find different ways to calculate weight according to your height ,age ...

Training

1.With the acquisition of the A340-500, A340-600 and the A320, are new recruits trained on all aircrafts?

2. How long does it take before one is able to hold a block?

3. Will new recruits be assigned short haul while the "seasoned staff" are given priority to longhaul operations?

4. How long does it take for one to be upgraded from economy to business to first?

Thanks much
Cheers

Exclamation Probation

Just wanna make sure everyone knows that if you quit before the end of your 6 month probation, you must repay all expenses incurred by you to Etihad -- plane ticket, training, etc. This could be loads of money. And the probation starts AFTER the training which is around 7 weeks. So it's almost an 8 month commitment or you wind up paying THEM.

Just FYI.

Also they regulate your dress (while in uniform) from your nailpolish to the color of your eyeshadow and lipstick. It's very strict. Not horrible at all, but it's regulated. You don't have any free choice in it. And you can't chew gum, eat while standing up, show any hair colour roots, etc

This is all info in the contract.

Not a big deal but just wanted to share the info. We need to be informed.

ticket and visa

Is it true that your ticket and visa gets emailed to you before the day you commence training? is this the case with most employees who have received there contract and returned it to ey.

I have emailed the company for the simplest flight details and no answer, just so I can organise myself and tell my friends and family when Im going and which airline.

Maybe I will just wait,

anzkosh

anzkosh, all the things u mentioned are also no-no's in EY...

like not using the mobile, texting etc..

just didn't want to write the whole list.

I think it's a little strict but really they just want us all to look professional. It's understandable.

luther as far as I know it's only recommended. i don't think they are that strict, it is more the overall impression of you and your work background. it helps though.

i think it depends on your joining date and how long it takes to do your medical. Probably 1-2 months. If you are available soon then maybe earlier. they're flexible.

-CC23-

Very much true what u said! I really can relate to that, I've been there too.

Ok, you should be positive about everything but for people who are planning to join an airline in the middle east, or lets say in the UAE, should know about what is waiting for them before they step on a plane, because when I joined I didn't know anyone who was living there, so i got most of my info from the media who displays Dubai and the UAE very glamourous.
unfortunately i didn't find out about pprune at that time

I want to give the new comers a lil info, firstly.. when you arrive don't be shocked when you see a whole bunch of Indian/pakistani workers, they're everywhere, YES you arrived at the right airport and in the country of servants, they are the majority of the population and very poor, the local arab community however is only a couple of hundred thousand. There are no labour movements or other such movements, when you have problems there's nowhere to go for help. There is no democracy, but the rulers are very nice and generous people! you have to respect their rules! and more importantly the islamic lifestyle, the attitude is " if you dont like it go back to your country" you have to be a bit quiet about your opinion! this country is up-coming and booming, there is a lot of construction everywhere and if you can imagen todays Dubai or Abu Dhabi 10 years ago...it was mostly desert not to mention 5 years from now, but don't think u'll only be surrounded by luxury, the crappy old uae is still present in most places!
Its allso very hard to find (true) friends especially when ur not a clubber, the friends you'll have are most probably other crew, (not really divers) and you have to be carefull of who you meet!
Sometimes you get the news that the company changed this or that wich sometimes can be drastic changes and you have to just play with it. It allso takes so much effort to get the most simpel things done, these are just some of the important things you should know, but unfortunately there are more.

I will allso tell you the good part, your accomodation, transportation, uniform and etc. are free, the malls are super great, with all the shops from back home and more! the weather is very nice ( except for the summer season) you can do lots of fun stuff in the desert, there're a lot of festivals, the tax-free lifestyle, the service is great, they pack ur groseries for you in the supermarket, the costumer is a real king here, there're a lot of nice places to go out like the jumeirah area( Dubai), dining and etc. etc. for the party peeps there is nothing much in Abu Dhabi, but in Dubai you can find the best clubs! the people are very friendly ad save, lowest crimerate in the word I think! it's most unlikely to witness somebody get his ass kicked on the streets or in public places! you have to be carefull not to be involved in such things or get arrested for what ever reason, you can be banned out of the country for it!

Well i hope I gave you the info you needed! for those coming to this side of the world, I wish you the best and Its a real excited experience! just be prepared and remember these are the things I experienced!!

Dahlia
