QantasLink

Hi everyone,

I'm starting training with QFL in mid Jan 07. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what the training envolves? My training is in Sydney and I live in Melbourne, so I also wanted to know if you get overnight allowance while on training, and being away from base?

Is anyone else on the same course as me? I start on 15th...

Thanks in advance.

Hi M,

Yeah, you will get o/n allowances if the training is in SYD and you're employed for Melbourne base.

According to JG's whiteboard, there's 3 people starting in that course - and you're the only person from MEL! (Nothing's sacred in Eastern!)

See u around the crew room no doubt!

Welcome Nanock.

In short, the training involves all aspects of our roles. The major areas being emergency procedures, aviation medicine, civil aviation regulations and standard operating procedures.

Most of your training will be on the ground followed by in flight training with a line trainer.

I hope you enjoy your training.

QantasLink Cabin Crew EBA Info session

Hi All,

Did everyone get a copy of the times etc for the EAA Cabin Crew EBA info sessions?

What do you reckon this is about? I'm a little suspicious... but then again I want the 2 hrs payment! It's an easy $30 if you ask me!

Who's planning on going?

I've heard DH and NG are using the sessions to tell crew how important the ss eba is for the company and how non competitive we are with the 13hr rule etc. they are also saying that they won't negotiate again and that the ss eba is all there is, and still no back pay.

I thought the union would have been involved but apparently the company don't want them there and the union have said the company has the right to hold these sessions, they are just talking to thier staff. I called the office and DM said they could talk to us about a change in wind direction if they wanted to, there is nothing she or anyone else can do about it. She was definately pi$$ed off and said we should go and be as honest with them as we have been with her about why we didn't like the ss eba.

i have heard there are some rumblings from crew in syd saying some money (in the sunnies eba) being better than no pay rise for two years and they've only been holding the sessions for a couple of days now god knows what it will be like by the time they've finished. DM also said that they want to turn enough crew into a yes vote so they can put it out again and have it voted in.

How dissapointing, we waited over a year for our union and management to offer us an EBA which was a copy of another companies eba. Please vote NO if they try to offer us the same again. We need to show them that NO means No. Do not fall for their tactics and threats.

They are trying to threaten us. We voted NO against the EBA -and they need to stop playing games and give us some credit for what we deserve and offer us something that we actually want to work for.

If they offer us less and still expect the same quality off work then I am sorry but standards across the company in the level of customer service will drop. Our carefactor will be zero.

The Australian Aviation industry is expanding rapidly. Jetstar and Jestar international is growing, Virgin Blue with their new aircrafts and decision to go Long Haul is also an example of them growing, MAM casuals are consistantly being hired, Emirates and Etihad are increasing services to Australia and are also on the look out for crew and we have all heard about the Tiger Airways news.

By accepting an E.B.A ("A" standing for Agreement), what is the point in working for a regional airline and doing all the work yourself when we no longer have our 7hr rule or DIL's just to name a few.

You only have to look at a handfull of our crew and see that many of them have flown in the past, and that we are more than happy to work for another airline if it means we can continue to have a healthy and financial lifestyle.

I really enjoy working at Eastern, but if they are going to play games why should we waste our time when we have told them we arent interested.

Vote NO, don't be scared, otherwise you'll be sorry when your working in cruel conditions and not getting anything extra out of it.

Melbourne

Well said FA1.

In Melbourne only the people who were rostered to attend the meetings did so.

It's moments like these, YOU NEED Minties.

How does everyone else feel about our "signiture touch", Minties, Australias favourite chewy mints now being replaced by an overseas imported immitation?

It appears it is not only maintanence jobs that have been lost to overseas, but our catering items as well.

I can only guess that this cost saving change wasn't enough to keep the company in a competitive position in comparison to our competitors so our management are still looking at compromising our passengers safety by supporting and encouraging us to welcome unhealthy working conditions for flight attendants.

It's interesting we were informed that the change was for a softer mint. I don't think so.

Hi guys

Don't mean to be nosey, but goodluck with your EBA.

Not sure if you have read the Virgin Blue thread, but we voted 89% NO.

We need to get the conditions we dseerve!

Thanks crewbus.
How bad was the EBA on offer?
It's good to know you had such a huge majority no vote.

QantasLink

Hi everyone,
i recieved an invitation to a Cairns Recruitment day on the 28th July. As this is my first attempt with any airline, i am a little unsure of what it involves.

As the session is to be held in Cairns, i would like to know whether this means those who are successful will then be based out of Cairns?

Also i do not know much about the flying conditions with QantasLink, what they are like to work for, pay and basic things like that.

thanks for any help
