ekwannabe

hi there, one question if you don't mind, how long did it take, from the moment you finished your final interview till you got the famous call from dubai ? ( approval/rejection)
they told us it would take 4 to 6 weeks, but was just wondering whether it could be earlier than that, as i realy can't wait until they contact me

regards
skyla

Hi there, I am new to this forum, decided to check it out as I have an invite to a 'preliminaryselection process' in March with Emirates. I am not sure if this is an open day or an interview? Any answers and some advice please

hey alicia,

The open day is essentially where you get 5 minutes to sell your self and hand over your cv, and ask a few q's about the company. If they like you they call you back for the assessment day.

Its all so nerve wracking when its something you really want, but just stay positive, and RELAX!

Good luck!

The first thing they'll ask you to do is spell the word 'what'. If you can't manage that, then it will not matter 'wot' colour top you wear !

alicia123,

What you need to do is look at the official Emirates Careers website. They explain everything in there from conditions offered to life in Dubai and include a few tips for the interview.

Next you should look at the older posts on this thread. It's a goldmine of information, however keep in mind that events that happen in recuitment sessions in Europe or Asia aren't neccessarily the same as they would be for Australia and New Zealand.

The best advice I can give you is to come up with some examples from your current job of difficult situations. Difficult customers, taking initiative, examples of leadership, working in a team etc. It doesn't make too much of a difference whether or not you have had aviation experience in the past, they mainly look at how well you present yourself, how you interact with other people and how good a work ethic you may have. Also try to get both written and phone-in references lined up in time.

The assessment days consist of group activities and discussion which you can't really prepare for. They see how well you interact with others in your group. Afterwards if you pass that stage you get this lovely psychometric test (I think that is what it's called). A choice example - Sheep is to lamb as _____ is to veal.

Try to keep your clothing conservative - nothing sleveless, and nothing that would show too much cleavage. Natural coloured hair colour, conservative makeup, as well as clean and well manicured nails.

I hope that helps, and best of luck.

(BTW I do agree with BYMONEK, after seeing 7 'wot's it starts to grate after a while.)

hmmm, pensive

Hi does anybody know how much the prelim selections differ in South Africa and could somebody pls tell me what this prelim selection process is that I recieved an email to attend. Is it an open day or an interview?? Another question I have is that I wear glasses but do have contacts (which I hardly wear) but I am seeing eyesight as being an issue in some of the forums. Is it a bad idea to wear my glasses to this 'prelim selection process'. thanx
