It has only been a few weeks and already I have had many roster changes; which is very inconvenient. My conversion course is looming and well, to be honest I don't really like the brand and before everyone pounces on me, yes, I am looking for alternative employment, which is a shame because I love where we fly to (BMED routes) and they are the only reason I am hanging on in there.

"you two from the previous posts should count yourself lucky, the bmi brand saved your 17.5 million loss making as**s a long wait in the jobcentre.

sooner you go the better and let all of those who want to make a go of it get on with it without ya moanin.....the arrogance of it; you would think that you were BA!!!"

What a ridiculous and completely pointless post. And so very ironic that you should comment on the 'arrogance' of others.

"My toughts exactly!!
obviously never worked for another airline "

Don't u mean 'Hasn't worked for an airline that was fast going down the pan because of the very business practices that you so enjoyed ?'

I tell you what, why don't you try a few months over with us at baby...then you'll know what hard work really is like..
If you don't like it, then go, There are plenty of yr colleagues (old and new) that do enjoy their job.

bmi incompetence

Missing BMED too... but I am glad i am not working for BMI!

I met this lady Bonn.... she is representative of your Union and after talked to her about different issues the only think I can say is that she has been brain wash by BMI!! I am not surprise your industrial conditions are nothing compare to other airlines and never will. I feel really sorry for you guys! They are laughing at you!

An example of the amazing company BMI is...

On the 28th of Oct there was a TBS trip for 4 days. When the crew arrived to the hotel around 2 in the morning, they found out that BMI has signed a contract with the hotel for only 7 rooms when in reality they needed 14 rooms. The crew waited until 8 in the morning before they could go to use the rooms from the previous crew.

The crew is still waiting for an apology from BMI.

I would like to send my support to BMED friends and colleagues and I would like to say to them:

GET OUT ASAP!

...then a week later in TBS a state of emergency was declared and bmi didn't contact the crew once. And then you have the GYD incident with the crew bus crash - bmi forgot to tell anyone that they had cancelled the crew insurance before the end of October. And now given that there is no government in Lebanon and they are on the brink of an emergency, do you reckon bmi are watching the situation closely? I bloody doubt it!

The integration of staff from another company that offered a very different lifestyle for the crew was always going to be hard. Bmed crew have had a very different view of the flying world for many years. Much of it on the back of being a BA subsidiary, and the only way those guys can ever expect to get something like that again is to go to BA mainline. There isn't one airline in the UK that could offer anything like the lifestyle once enjoyed by Bmed. The company was broke and going under so you were going to be unemployed or taken over by someone else and they would have made the same changes that bmi have.

Bmi are poor at crew management and don't expect anything more than you have commented on here with regards to welfare.

With regard to the real names of people that have been mentioned here and how brainwashed they are, I can only say that I strongly disagree and I believe that it is more likely to be this: You can insult your own as much as you like but if someone else does then you will defend them otherwise you have been insulted yourself because you are still there. I would ask that you do not use peoples names here in future.

More importantly though for those of you wanting to leave; do so swiftly and quitely, because those of us staying need to be united not divided IF we are to get an improvement to our working conditions. A divided workforce only serves the company.

This is a cabin crew forum Flapsfullretard, so as a FO your bmi experience will differ from ours. There is a huge difference between choosing to work for a company and having no choice in the matter. Many ex BMED crew are in fact ex bmi crew from many years ago and left due to the appalling working conditions for cabin crew. Don't worry we won't be hanging around for long bringing down morale at bmi. Most crew are just waiting for course dates with a professional airline.

.......and your choice, if bmed hadn't been taken over by bmi would have been?
Jobcentre, methinks. I know that you don't want to thank bmi for saving your jobs. It's not gratitude that anyone wants, just a little more understanding in how our company "works" and how your old bmed lifestyle won't ever fit in with this work ethic. And if you feel that you want to work for a "professional" outfit, then you go and find one that allows you to continue the aforesaid mentioned "bmed lifestyle". No-one's stopping you, but just don't go denigrating the job that hundreds of your new bmi colleagues are doing day in, day out. Now that really isn't very "professional", is it?

I have worked for 5 previous airlines before, the majority short haul and I have never been treated the way I have been here already & its less than a month.
Why did you leave them if they were so good?

I did not denigrate anyone's job. Merely said that many crew do not find the working conditions at bmi to their liking and will be leaving asap.

I think yr comments about a "professional" airline somehat show how you are doing down the job that the majority of bmi crew actually enjoy...(and I know they do)
Over 60 years in the game so far.........Hey, we're still babies, aren't we?

Have been watching this thread for some time now and I think that it's time that we drop the Bmed/ bmi divide. We are now one airline and should consider ourselves so. For those that find the working conditions etc unpallatable then just consider that a lot of the people that left bmed in the summer to join the big 'airways' are not enjoying the lifestyle that they previously did either, neither are they totally happy. For example regular roster changes, minimum rest, split duties, long days the list goes on...... that's short haul. A fast paced changing environment. If I'm doing shorthaul, I'd rather it be where I am now. There are excellent people to work alongside and many more opportunities should you wish to hang up your wings and digress. Do you really want to wait years to even get an invitation to apply for promotion or wait at the bottom of an endless list to get part time etc??
Before anyone berates me, I too have come across from Bmed and happily did so. I too previously worked for bmi and was very happy there. My reasons for leaving were not due to being treated apallingly at all.
This kind of debate is destructive and only serves to divide a community. We should integrate and stand as one group with our new colleagues. That is the only way that we stand a chance of changing anything that needs to be changed.
I for one wish we could all accept what's gone has gone and get on with the job in hand. For one thing it certainly makes the day a lot easier and shorter if we dont sit moaning and winding each other up. Lets all move on.

Hi guys... I havent really read much of the forum but allow me to express my opinion about the bmi bmed thing... I started working for bmi in 2003 and I only lasted 7 months... My impression was very bad. The onlyn ice thing were people. But as far as i am concerned, people stay in bmi only because they are too young or they got rejected from other airlines. After 7 hectic months in bmi, having fun in flight but no money at the end of the month, I got a job with bmed... This was fantastic!!!Long trips, intersting destinations, well i am proud i was going out everywhere... yes tehran included and i am so glad i made some really good friends out there... People in bmed were quite sad, according to my opoinion. very few would go out and explore, m ost of them were moaning except when we were in beirut. As soon as I got to know the rumours about bmi buying bmed, I applied to BA and this happen as soon as I had a row with one of silly managers in BMED, yes most of them were silly and unprofessional... so I left to BA where is GREAT!!!!!!! So an andvice to all BMEDers, just EVACUATE BMI asap!!!! Go to qantas air new zealand, come to ba gatwick... much better that BMI!!!! ( I would rather work in TESCO instead)

As I recall the Midhaul Security Manager (who's area of responsibility this is) is the former BMED security manager is he not?
