Hi Sam,

Don't panic! Congratulations on getting an interview as apparantly Virgin receive 45,000 applications every year and only 20% of those people are invited for an interview!

You will have no problems with the maths test, if I remember correctly you have 10 questions to answer in 9 minutes! I panicked and rushed through but then had lots of time left over afterwards!

Just some examples...
1) You are flying to LAX, the flight is scheduled to depart at 1815, the flight is 8 hours in duration. What time will you arrive in LAX remembering that the local time is GMT-7.
2) A passenger purchases 3 bottles of vodka at £10.50 and a bar of chocolate at £2.00. He gives you a £50 note, how much change will you need to give him?

I found the one to one very relaxed but had been to cabin crew interviews previously so had an idea of what to expect. They will ask you lots of situational questions..a time when you exceeded a guest's expectations, a time when you dealt with an angry pax etc etc.. My suggestion is to think of some situations the night before so that you won't go blank when they ask you!!!

Good luck, you will be great!

Thanks Tulip!

You certainly have put me at ease. Im usually quite confident in interviews and always just be myself but when you want something so bad ur nerves always kick in!

I'll let you know how it all goes! Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Anyone else out there have an interview on the 4th of January?

Sam.x.

Good Luck

Hi Emmy Lou,

Sorry haven't been online for ages, great news about your interview - best of luck! I did have one of my questions answered re salary & it seems that most people are pretty happy with the job and just adjust to suit.

Hope the 4th goes well!

Hi there,

Can anyone please give an idea of what happens during the training...

Would you suggest moving close to Gatwick for this period or do people commute?

I live 1 hr 30 away but don't want to miss out on anything if everyone else is staying close!

THANKS!

GOOD LUCK FOR EVERYONE WITH AN INTERVIEW TOMORROW!!!

Medical Screening/Tests etc

Does anyone know if its just the Medical Questionaire you complete for Virgin, or do you then also have tests done or something when you start training?
I know some other airlines ask employees to undergo some types of medical tests but dont know if Virgin do.

interview on 4th Jan

Hi Tulip 2007,

Interview went ok (I think, I hope)! The wait is killing me now. Really want out of my current job. Its like swallowing medicine. Can't wait to leave.

I got through to the 2-2-1 so Im hoping I did something right! Just smiled loads during the interview and they were smiling loads back so should be a good sign??? Oh and they seemed to like most of my responses to their questions too! Fingers crossed!

Let you know as soon as I hear from them.x.

P.S Special thanks to yourself and to AP for helping me prepare for it! Hopefully I'll be joining you soon!

Well done to you both, I'm sure you did great!

It took 9 days for my letter to come through though so don't panic like me if it's not there straight away! The suspense is so awful but well worth the wait.

Let us know when you hear!

Training on 8th Jan anyone?

Hey Guys! Just had a great idea. Does anybody start training on 8th Jan? I thought those on here who do, why dont we all meet up sunday evening for a drink or meal?I am already meeting another girl from pprune. It would be a good ice breaker and good way to get to know each other and have some friends before hand! As 6 whole long weeks, we need all the support we can get and to calm any pre nerves! anyone agree with me on this one. If any one thinks thats a good idea, please PM me! thanx

good luck for those awaiting news

Hi. For those of you who have had the interview with Virgin I want to know your opinions. I recently got a rejection letter from them, didn't even make the interview. As with many in this situation I have no idea why as I thought the application was neat and questions well answered?? They say to wait 6 months. I was thnking of trying again sooner. Do you think it's a bad move? Also what other airlines are highly rated that I can try??

Thanks

My friend got to final interview, but didn't get in. She reapplied 5 months later, and got a rejection letter, without even an interview. If they say 6 months, they mean 6 months. I know it is frustrating, but it is for a reason. It is verry difficult to improve your skills, and experience in lessthan 6 months. Most airlines say 12 months... so it's not that bad.

A key attribute of a good cabin crew member is patience...
