Talking EK Walk-In in SIngapore (26/8)

Hi all....

Just want to share my experience as everyone else....

Arrived at 8.30 however as advertised it would start at 9.30.... Anyway started chit chatting and making friends other who had already arrived....
I should say the turn out was not as i expected... there were more guys and probably about 70 girls....

Then it was time to register so guys one row and girls another row... However the guys were only requested to submit their CV's and Pictures and could leave however the gals went into a room and we were seated 10 in a row.....

SO it time for us to fill in the Personal Details form and proceed to the height test....
Then the next thing is the group discussion time.....
10 in a group and our question was..... If you are rich and powerful women what would u do ?

SO i guess many of us can think of many ideas on how to answer that rite...

Then we were asked to wait outside for the results......
a few minutes later we got it... Only 3 of us made it through from this group..... our second interview will be on the 4th of September... will keep u guys updated....

Cheers!!!!

Hey all! Heard somewhere that on your day's off with EK, you will need permission to leave the country if you want a little get-a-way...can anyone tell me if there is any truth in this?

Cheers

Smile Summary of my experience at EK Interview(SIN06)

Dear All,

Same here as Gwennie, just to share my experience on the first screening/interview:

Attended the interview at 1015am, handed in the CV w/photos, and was proceeded to a room for REACH test. Just a test to see if you could touch a picture pasted on the wall.

Then waited for the second activity which was a group discussion exercise. I think you just need to be natural, and participate in the group discussion. (Talk, listen and share) After that, we were asked to wait outside the room to wait for our names being called if we are through to the second interview.

The successful ones were asked to stay back for a debrief for upcoming interviews.

And that was it! Overall, the organisers for the event, were pretty friendly and made us comfortable, so at least the nerves were calmed. I think the best tip I can give is: Mingle and socialise! People are nicer than you think they are!

Yes you do. The process is there in order to maintain up to date contact information whilst crew are off base. They always do give there permission.

Technically, you are supposed to, to cover your a$$, but I never did & don't know anyone who ever has.

Second- about maternity..If married and you are you get pregnant within you 3-year contract, what is the situation? Can you go back after this?
Thank you, Ek bird!
And good luck in UK! I used to live in London for sometime, and I like it very much..

Hi Elly,
Unless you have at least 2 other people that you want to share with that are getting allowances too, it is better & cheaper to stay in company accomodation as the living out allowance is un-justifyably low (about 3300 pounds a year) plus you have to pay your own bills on top of that. Your bills are paid for you by the company if you live in company accomodation. If for some reason you decided to take the allowance and move out then at a later stage decide that you want to move back into company accomodation, it is near enough impossible as the the company won't let you. Company accomodation is pretty decent though and every building has a maintainance man that you can call if you need anything fixing (you don't pay for that either).
If you get married and get pregnant within the first 3 year contract, you will have to resign & you will lose your sponsorship with EK. If, after you have had your child and decide to return to work, you can re-apply to EK, they will then review your record & if you had a good, clean working record they will then re-employ you without having to go through the interview process again. I read somewhere though that if you have completed your 3 year contract and signed up for another 3 years then you are entitled to unpaid maternity leave. Don't quote me on that though. Maybe someone else can shed some light on that.
Hope that answered your question

Amowers * Signs *

I'm trying to find a website about signs to be prepared but I didn't find it , do you have any suggestion?

Also, practice your writing and since I had signs and everything on my test, try doing some research on things that various signs say to be prepared. Thats kind of difficult to prepare for though, so I would say to focus on reading comprehension and writing.

Good luck!! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Hey Michaelsen,

Give this website a try... http://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/fip-pcim/man_4_3a_e.asp I dont know if it will help though. Its all the signs that are used by the Canadian govt, if I read correctly (I just skimmed it over quick)

The questions on the test said what the sign says and then asked you to answer a multiple choice question about the meaning, for examplegive or take a little...the wording was obviously different as I am going by memory)

(Moving rating) Adult Supervision 12A
a) Children under 12 are free to view the movie alone
b) Children over 12 must see the movie with an adult
c) Children under 12 cannot see the movie
d) Children under 12 must see the movie with an adult

The answer would be d.

Good luck!
