Been Informed by recruitment that I am on EF and not WW now. After speaking to lots of people I have been told I have more chance of staying at LHR and then listing for WW as opposed to being WW initially for six months at LHR and then been sent to LGW (Midfleet) after this, Im sure alot of this is galley FM but also heard this from some reliable sources!

Yes better chance of staying with BA at LHR if on Eurofleet. You'll be replacing existing crew that have been allowed the transfer to WW (originally you were going to take some of those places).

Eurofleet is a great place to be - great crew, young and old though younger than longhaul; great variety of nightstops all over Europe (some nice 3 day trips to ATH, CPH, FCO, BUD and a new nightstop in OTP (Bucharest). Chance to bid for trips and days off or just do day trips...and chance to move to longhaul in the future. Enjoy.

Hi everyone. I just thought I would ask if anyone knew if BA operated a "quota" system on recruitment. The reason I am asking is because a friend of mine applied and was turned down. Nothing new in that, you may say, but she is extremely disappointed and disillusioned. She previously flew with BA in the 80s and 90s but left because of family illness and commitments. Since then she has been a deputy manager at a large hotel, and has also worked for a charter airline. She is totally focussed on customer service, and if I may say so, a delightful person. She realised that she would have to 'start from scratch' and would have to impress the selectors again, but really felt her interview had gone well and felt quite confident without being complacent. She was therefore pretty upset when she was rejected. Luck of the draw, you may say, and you may be right. However she now feels that her age may have been against her. She is in her late forties and was wondering if any other 'oldies' have been recruited this time. BA age-range requirements are 19 - 54; that covers them not being accused of 'ageism'; with no feedback from BA, she has no way of knowing and of course, they wouldn't exactly say that anyway. Of course she feels she could do the job well; her entire career has been customer service, not forgetting she was trained by BA in the first place! She was also told by her friend who now flies with BA that a couple of stewards she knew from another airline had applied and had been accepted by BA, when she wouldn't even have given them an interview! Sour grapes you may say, or indeed, c'est la vie! Interesting though, don't you think?

New B773

Hi everyone....good news as I believe to LHR EF crew...

Have seen on airlines net, that BA will be acquiring 10 new B777-300 by 2010, starting with the first jet late in 2008 -> to expand its operations...so all of you who are on the waiting list for transfer to WW....there's a nice hope.
But of course it all comes down to this pension scheme and growth of passengers....but nevertheless...it's a positive move.

Re: Contract

Spunkydunkie: All I've had is the initial "Congrats you've been successful............" email, confirmation of security clearance (which was quick because I already hold an airside pass) and the "we'd like to offer you a 24th April start, you'll be on Eurofleet" phone call. No formal letters or contract as such.
