hey guys just reading info that PNH had posted- looks like they had a bad time of it- i must admit on my course we have had nothing like that @ all! Although everythin hasnt went completely 2 plan- all has gone well & the trainin has been great- so please dont let any of that put u off! as for low moral- i would need 2 ask where? cause ive been there 3 weeks now- aint seen any as yet. every1 is really excited & lookin 4ward 2 going online!

got my rostar other day- so that made me even more excited! heehe

as for disclosure scotland- if the criminal certificate doesnt come back before the end of trainin then yes thats correct you can not fly- you can be issued with a land-side ID- which we all have- but not a air-side ID for flying- so try get forms sent a.s.a.p.

ill keep u all updated- take care A.x

Hmm...oh dear, that's gonna suck with the disclosure Scotland thing! I've never even had a speeding or parking fine! If I'm grounded for how ever long it takes to come through, will they give me ground duties, or something else to do? Do they pay you before it comes through?

Sorry about all the questions, just curious so I can work out my budget etc.

Well, just 3 days til I fly out. I'm getting scared now!! I think it's finally hit home that I'm leaving!!!

And Eddy, how'd your first day of training go??

New employees will be unable to fly without their disclosure certificate. BA does offer ground duties with payment to maternity types, and other ‘grounded’ crew, don’t know about the specifics in your situation.

You should be aware that because your flying allowances are paid a month in arrears, your first two months pay will be totally crap. It will consist mainly of your basic pay which is minimal. When you have paid for bond/rent/travel etc, you’ll even consider eating those deli sandwiches that we serve. Not fab news, but forearmed is forewarned and all that.

As for those old A320s, they’re really luverrrly. G-BUSB, being the 2nd one they delivered, the first one having, er, crashed. They didn’t used to have the winglets, can’t remember if they’ve since been fitted. Not as big an anorak as I thought I was.

Moral is always changing. It is always good to see new and extra enthusiastic crew coming online, gives everyone a kick up the arse!

The transfer issue is always contentious. Don’t join thinking you will transfer from Eurofleet to World Wide in any great hurry, 2 year minimum, 8 year maximum. Those of you going straight to LGW WW are very lucky, fab base. Things have a habit of changing overnight though, airline life is never predictable! That’s why it’s so good.

Well, I just got my package today!!!!!!! I thought they'd redirected it to my London address, but the Australian one must have already been sent off! Good thing I did get it, cause it said you needed tetinus shot BEFORE training, so I rushed off to the docs and got one today, along wth that horrible polio drop thingi!

Well, disclosure Scotland...All my info is Australian, so I'm betting it's gonna take even LONGER for them to process it!!!! At least I've got it now though!

Just a quick question...Does the work stuff that you need to learn before training come in a different package to the medical/disclosure Scotland etc? Cause there's no work stuff in my package!

Ok, now I'm stressing out, and that's not normal for me!!! I NEVER stress!! BA rang me today @ 5pm Australian time, the day before Christmas, the day before I fly out to ask me to get in contact with all my referees, cause they've not been able to get in contact with some of them, such as my university and high school, and one of my old work places!!!! So I try calling them, and they all have automated messages saying they won't be back until 5th Jan and 2nd of Jan! HELP!!!!!!!

Anyway, just had to get it off my chest!! I've got til the end of training to have it organised, so I'm sure it can't take that long...Just a lot of money in overseas phone calls!!!!

Well, I'll talk to you all once I've settled in in London. Good luck everyone in training, and thank-you so much to everyone who helped me!!!

I wouldn't worry about Disclosure Scotland too much, they only check for crimes committed in the UK, not overseas, so they we won't be tracing you to Oz! Thats part of the reason why the whole thing is such a farce!

I was thinking that!! I actually rang and asked them this afternoon!!!! What's the point of me paying 13 pounds when I've never even lived in the UK? It's funny! Not that I have anything to hide here in Australia though. Never even had a speeding or parking fine!

Am gonna send it straight off when I arrive on the 26th...Hopefully it should be processed pretty fast since there's no record of me at all! hehehe!

Woohoo!!!!!! First day of training completed!!!!!!!

Right first off .... the WW LGW / Eurofleet question. It must be chosen by throwing darts at a dartboard!!!

I found out today that I am WW LGW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways I am a happy bunny indeed.

Clearfortheoption ... cheers mate, I will SMS you sometime. Do I have your number? Send me a private message.

Regarding the Disclosure ... get it sent off as soon as possible. Unfortunately being from outside the UK and having no record makes NO difference. I am from South Africa and at the moment with the backlogs etc etc its apparently looking like for some people anything up to 5 weeks!!!

Anyways good luck peeps ... any questions let me know!!!

Hiya girl! Glad to hear that you are joining a fellow aussi in the uk! I just thought I'd write about the disclosure forms. I know I am with Easyjet but I had to send one of too. They are currently taking 6 weeks at least to come back. Mine took 5 and a half. you are grounded until they come back as you need the disclosure to get your id pass. It is currently the busy season for the forms.

As for your references - don't stress. They should follow them up during your training. I had problems with easy in that regard too. All my references had to give a certificate of employment, with dates that I worked there (if they didn't or couldn't give you a proper reference). Problem is - Easy wanted them to be addressed personally to the company but certificates of employment are meant to be kept for life so they are adressed 'to whom it may concern'

Anyhow, for the references they had problems getting - easy posted a gap to a persoanl reference to check the dates with them. It is a tad complicated - but don't worry. Just remember the 8 hour time difference. Usually by the time BA staff clock on, aussi staff have clocked off. My mam did a lot of running around for me and faxing in oz!

Ok well, keep in touch, hope everything goes well. Take care and merry christmas

Hi folks!

Merry Xmas!

Just had my first trip a few days ago, was a back to back and still aint sure what time zone i'm in! Congrats on all who have just got thro and will be joining myself at the beach fleet.

Wanted to say that i didn't get my disclosure scotland certificate until the day before i was meant to fly and with a lot of running around like a nutter, i got my id! so yes you may be waiting till the elventh hour!

Also, another reason for this post, if your like me and moved far away from home and will be moving to around lgw, give us a shout! its only on days like today when you find out how lonely this job can be and as sad as it sounds, bit hard to make friends when you dont know anyone to go to the pubs with in the first place!

Anywho, peace and goodwill to ya all!

How long did it take from the first interview to being offered the job at BA? Sounds like the whole process has been pretty quick!

How many stages are there?

ayomide.

the BA interview is like all interviews, it's a process of ticking boxes, you need to give the answers that they are looking for.

The group discussion is watching how you interact with others

The one to one is all about you telling them that you have the relevant experience, so have some examples of situations ready (as it's always hard to think of them in an interview situation.)

The usual ones are, when you've gone that extra mile, when you've given excellent customer service, when you've recovered a bad situation, when you've worked as a team, when you've dealt with a personality clash, when you've had to work when you were demotivated, cultural awareness, etc etc

Hope this helps, let me know how you get on
When and where's the interview?

Anyone starting the 23 Feb course for EF LGW?

Rang me New Years Eve! Does anyone know of B&B's around Cranebank to stay at for 5 weeks or any other temporary accom?

I am going to try and commute to LGW, so need some B&B's around there for when I am online too!!!

Also what is EuroFleet LGW like? What are rosters like? How many trips (nitestops)? And more importantly what is likelihood of getting LH LGW?

I am very nervous, alot to organize and just worried about accommodation so any help would be great!!

Thanks
