howdy!
Hello all - I just came across this website and find it both useful and funny. I've just sent off my application for VS today but am struggling with the change in career path. I've been working in a bank for a good number of years and have a good pension, bonus and salary. The BIG problem is that I absolutely HATE it! Hate it hate it hate it. Starting every morning wishing it could be a sick day but I'm never sick (is that God's way of punishing me??).
Anyway, I see that there have been a few questions relating to pay etc. Can anyone give me an approximate figure for a JCA?
Thanks to anyone that answers.
Cheerio!

Hello there, I dont (YET) work for Virgin but I know someone that does. I was therefore told that the salary is £10,500 during the probationary period and then goes up after that. You also get a substantial sector allowance (I wouldnt like to say the exact figure) which from what I have heard is more than most airlines. This bumps the annual salary up alot and makes Virgin one of the better paid companies to work for.....
Can I just add that I am going by what I have been told and do not yet work for them......but hope this information gives you a rough idea......
Maybe someone who does work for them can give you a more accurate figure.......

Hi Scottycan
I just attended an assessment day and was told by recruiters pay for a new junior is around £10,500, which goes up to £11,000 ish after one year. On top of this you can expect to earn approx £6,000 a year in allowances and duty free commission. I've found this thread which may be of use to you

Hope it doesn't put you off, and good luck with your application!

Virgin CC Morale?
Hi,
Was just wondering if some of the Virgin guys and girls would be able to comment on present morale amongst cc?
I'm presently in the process of reapplying. Got past the group stuff previously but messed up the maths test.
I'm hoping to be successful this time but was reading some reviews on a passenger site the other day registering a great deal of dissatisfaction. Most were complementary about the cabin crew but weren’t happy with leg room / seats / entertainment system crashes etc. Loads of people saying they would never fly Virgin again etc.
I'm still really keen on the company myself but wondered if you were experiencing similar dissatisfaction on board and whether it was getting people down?
Blast.

hi all
I would really love to become crew for virgin. But, i live in the Rep. of Ireland. Without moving to the UK, do you think it would be feasible to work for them? I have seen some virgin crew flying through dublin before, and they are usually the same people i see. i thought maybe they were commuting to heathrow with bmi ( can they fly stand-by on bmi for free?)

I've been with Virgin for over 9 years and there's no way I'd ever go back to banking.

Once you complete the six month probation period you receive your Staff Travel benefits for use on VS and some other airlines. The crew you have seen commuting from Dublin are probably flying standby. I think the tickets cost around £60.

Virgin Interview Tests
Hello all,
I am currently waiting for my application form to arrive from Virgin and am hoping to be invited to an interview. (Fingers Crossed)
I have heard mixed rumors about the tests involved. I understand there is an English test and then ive heard that the maths test is no longer part of the interview, can anyone confirm this.
Thanks very much,
Ian J.

Good luck Ianj, fingers crossed for you.
No, Virgin no longer require you complete a maths test. A part of the group tasks is you are all given a card with about eight lines of information about the compny on it, which you must read aloud to the group, I guess to see how confident you are speaking to strangers??? You can actually read??? I don't know but I'd recomend you practise reading aloud if you're not confident.
If you're successful through the mornning and invited to attend the 3:1 interview in the afteroon, you will be given a an A4 sheet with information on it, which they will give you 2 minutes to learn, and then present you with a bunch of multiple choice questions. If you don't pass this, they will send you home again.
I attended the assessment just the other week so if there's anything else you want to know please ask and I'll do my best!
