HELP PLEASE.. Pacific Blue or Qantas Jetconnect??

Hi All!
Really need some help please! I am going through a career change and decided that a Cabin Crew position is what I would love to do. I applied for both Pacific Blue and Jetconnect Cabin Crew positions (Auckland based) in the last couple months and now have the tough choice of choosing between the two.. I am at the Medical stage now and don't really want to pay $200-250 for each one, kind of want to make the decision now! Can anyone offer any advice from what you know or what you may have heard of working as Cabin Crew for these airlines and which one you would recommend?? I'm really confused to which one I put my future with! Thanks so much!!

Without a doubt - JETCONNECT.

It depends - is Jetconnect short haul or long haul?

If it is long haulk I would take Jet connect.

If it was short haul Jetconnect, then by far Pac Blue.

Lots of exciting things happening in the next 12 months with Virgin. Plus as crew at Pac Blue you will get overnights in SYD/MEL/BNE as well as Fiji and Apia.

A day might by AKL-SYD-Vanuatu stopover then Vanuatu-BNE-AKL

Pacific Blue does sound exciting and they did mention a whole lot of change at their recruitment day not to mention their generous staff travel benefits.
But I did see more career advancement through Jetconnect. Jetconnect had a combined short haul and long haul recruitment day so I don't know which I would end up doing if I got through with them. Long Haul would definitely be the ideal.
I guess I should find out about Jetconnect and I will have a clearer picture of what is offered. Am really excited about this, can't wait to start! Thanks so much :)

I have spoken with current crew for both carriers.

Pac blue are young and energetic, but a number of them seem to get fed up with their job over time, and get fed up with immature crew that don't take their job seriously or are lazy.

Jetconnect crew only good things, but work hard.

Remember this is a very very generalised view...

Ok thanks NewZealand2, both such different companies!

With Pacific Blue we have some very good overnights, 2 nights in Samoa, 2 nights in Vanuatu, overnights in Cairns, Sydney, Brisbane, Fiji ... And currently rumors regarding other ports such as Bali, Melbourne, Queenstown even Tahiti... but who knows with Galley gossip.

I know people who have come over from Jetconnect to Pacific Blue and vice versa. It all depends which company is going to 'fit' you best. There is a lot of exciting things in the pipeline for the Virgin Blue Group especially in the next 6-12 months and there are also opportunities with internal transfers to the other airlines in our group including V and Virgin Blue, also the exchange between Virgin Atlantic is kicking back up at the end of the year.

Yeah Pacific Blue you do have some good lay overs with 1 nighters in Apia (Samoa), Port Vila (Vanuatu), Cairns, Sydney, Brisbane, Hamilton, Wellington, Dunedin and Christchurch, with return flights to Rarotonga, Port Moresby, Honiara, Gold Coast, Tonga and Queenstown. They try and mix up the rosters so your not necessarily doing like 5 sector domestics, you may do like a couple of domestics mixed in with international sectors in one trip. As for the rumours yeah thats just galley talk with regards to Tahiti and other destinations but you never know the airline is always changing to meet the demands of the customers so with the new CEO there's always going to be bigger and better things to come in the future. Other than that the people are great to work with and we all strive to get the best out of one another! Yeah we all moan and complain when we have our bad days but hey name any job in the world where you dont moan and complain. Good luck!

Wow thanks so much for the feedback! Pacific Blue definitely sounds like a great company to work for. Received the contract to sign with them in the mail today! so looks like I'll be doing the training in 2 weeks! :) Qantas was a bit later in the recruitment am still at the medical stage, so think I'm going to go with the opportunity that I have now and sign with Pacific Blue, very excited! Thanks all for the advice x

Congrats :) Hopefully see you out online very very soon!!!!!

When they say you will have no life for 5 weeks during training, you actually will have no life! You will know nothing outside of aviation. But it's worth it.

Good luck with training.
