NetJets Corporate Flight Attendant Melbourne Base - Is it a scam?

Hi all,

This is my first thread.... I just recieved an e-mail saying that I'm invited to an assesment in Melbourne for NetJets this Sunday 23rd May 2010.

My only worry is that I'm not sure if its legitimate as I havn't seen anything on the NetJets webiste that they will start having a base in Melbourne (Australia). Does anyone else know anything about this???? Does anyone else have an interview in Melbourne this Sunday?

This is another worry of mine... it says that I have to pay for my flight? Do they really do this? I think it might be a scam :suspect:

This is some of the info I recieved.....

'Successful Candidates will be required to undertake FAA approved training however the initial cost of flight & accommodation from MEL. to Long beach Cal, U.S.A. for training must at their own expense, ^This cost for Airfare & accommodation will be refunded in full on completion & with 80% pass for the training & the 12 x week probation employment period'

Hi , I have received the same e-mail from 'SASS Pacific recruitement' offering me an interview on Sunday and I am worried too that it might be a scam...

if anybody has any info regarding this , please post a msg.

flightkat 21st May 2010 01:01

Hi Rangi86,

I have checked on the NetJets website & there is nothing there about them recruiting on Melbourne. I'm worried because when I googled 'Sass pacific Recruitment Service' it doesn't exist.

Today is Friday so NetJets is closed so I cannot even call them to ask if this is really them.

Are you still going to go to the interview on Sunday?

Rangi86 21st May 2010 01:14

Hi Flightkat ,

I have checked if SASS Pacific recruitment Service even existed on google and nothings comes up .. I am concerned too as I'd have to fly to Melbourne for this interview and don't really want to fly for nothing !

Maybe Checking through the Ciloms Airport Lodge where the interview is supposedly held would help? They might know whether the conference room is booked for this purpose on Sunday night... Have you tried checking with them?

Let me know if you find out anything...

Rangi86

Hi Rangi86,

I can see your concern, it would be such a waste to come all the way down for nothing... at least I am in Melbourne!

I can see that this 'company' has advertised other jobs on the internet as well and its all with the same guy Ricki-leigh Mason. They are all Airline based jobs.

I just called Ciloms Airport Lodge & there is nothing booked for that day... she said that there was something similar to that booked on Saturday & the lady tried to call the person but they arn't answering.... hmmmmm.... it seems really fishy to me!!!!

The only thing booked for Sunday is some kind of Church gathering lol

I think that this must be a scam... it's such a shame!

Where did you hear about this job? I found it through Seek.

What are you going to do now?

Rangi86 21st May 2010 01:46

I found the job through seek too , on the ad posted on May 16th... too many things seem fishy too me in this : no phone number , just one name - Ricky-lee Mason , interview held on a SUNDAY , at 6 pm , which is weird , and also nothing about Netjets opening a base anywhere in Australia . A company like Netjets seem to do things a lot more professionally than this , which is why I got concerned.

I have sent an email to Netjets letting them know... but I don't think I'll be flying down.

If you find out anything in the meantime , please do let me know.

flightkat 21st May 2010 01:54

I sent an e-mail to NetJets also and reported the job as a scam through SEEK. I will see what happens.

There is another odd thing... my time to meet at the conference room was to be at 7.30pm.... hmmmmm.... is yours at 6pm? VERY STRANGE! I am even thinking DANGER.... ALARM BELLS lol

You are right NetJets would be a lot more professional about all this. I don't think that they would even have a conference at some unknown lodge!

I will keep you updated & please keep me posted also....

Rangi86 21st May 2010 02:02

Yes mine was at 6pm... so even our interview times are different ! And which company would run interviews so late on a Sunday night??!!

Where else did you find that this Ricky-Leigh Mason advertised airline jobs?

I'll keep you posted if I find out anything else.

flightkat 21st May 2010 02:19

I know Sunday is a strange day for an interview....

I have found advertised jobs by him also at FLIGHT ATTENDANTS, AIRPORT CUSTOMER SERVICE, GROUND STAFF Job in Adelaide 5000, South Australia Australia

AIRPORT CUSTOMER SERVICE GROUND STAFF, Melbourne VIC 3000, Leader Newspapers, 03-90105782, 13 May, 2010 | JobisJob Australia

I'm sure there is many more!

I am so glad we are not so stupid.... imagine all the poor people who will show up on Sunday

will keep you posted when I hear anything else!

redsnail 21st May 2010 05:27

NetJets Australia? Probably not. It's not a market that NJ is looking at right now.

flightkat 21st May 2010 08:12

Hey,

I have been trying to send the links to the other jobs that Ricky-Leigh Mason advertised but I can't seem to post them on here:ugh:.... there is one on the jobisjob website - AIRPORT CUSTOMER SERVICE GROUND STAFF.

There is also another I found on career one... anyway I recieved an answer from SEEK & they said ...

'SEEK publishes jobs online each day from employers and recruiting agencies in Australia and overseas, but we take no further part in the recruitment process. Whilst we would remain hopeful that ads posted on the site are for legitimate and fair jobs, there are those that do slip through the cracks. In these cases, it is beyond our control what action is taken or considered. [/font]

If you would like to investigate further or report this matter, we encourage you to raise the issue with the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission. Please remember to let them know that you have had issues with a SEEK advertiser.'

I am so over this I am glad we both got to the bottom of it... it has wasted my time when I could have had a more peaceful day - If only people weren't like this... blah!

cdflyer 21st May 2010 10:03

hi guys

I just called Cilom Airport Lodge also. No conference rooms booked for Sunday at all.

Something booked Sat 1000 - 1600.

What is going on!! This is driving me crazy.....

Tried phoning sass pacific but just get a recorded message.

Post if you get any updates please

regards

smallfry 21st May 2010 10:32

I am pretty sure its a scam.
Netjets does not use 3rd parties for hiring like this, and any training in the USA is unlikely to be in Long Beach CA, nor would you be expected to pay for your transport there.
NJ Australia?. Not for the forseable future.
Plus there would be a lot more hiring going on, very publicly, for more than FA's.

flightkat 21st May 2010 22:50

Hi cdflyer,

I wasted half a day yesturday trying to work this out & it really is a scam.

Lucky we worked it out otherwise we would have wasted more of our time or even money later on down the track.

I just hope that the people that show up for the conference didn't have to fly down from other parts of Australia:ooh:

What time were you meant to come by on Sunday?
I was meant to go at 7.30pm whilst Rangi86 was meant to come by at 6.00pm... that is another strange thing!

spunksta22 23rd May 2010 03:59

SCAM

Hi all... I rang Ciloms Lodge and they said the recruitment was yesterday and nothing is booked for today?! Is anyone gonna drive past and see what happens?

flightkat 23rd May 2010 06:23

Hi spunksta22,

I'm not going to waste my time getting ready, driving to find out that nothing is going on... I honestly think its a scam.

Are you gonna go down?
