What is the one thing you wish you knew before you went for your AD

Hello there all of the future crew.

I am wondering what is the one thing you wish you were aware of before you set foot in that room with the interviewers for your assessment?

Hoping that from your answers, all people out there dreaming of being successful at the interview will get more aware of what to expect from the big day...

:)

Mari

All of my previous posts still apply and I am still where I currently am, due to intensified bullying to remain in my current retail job (but I cannot say so openly) - I tried to register with a cabin crew training company near LHR but in the current economic climate, the company went bust and the course was cancelled one week before I was due to go on it, only after I had paid the full course fee and other costs totalling £600 - the course turned out to be a total con as under the terms and conditions of the course, I was not entitled to any refunds of any course fees, save an amount they had only refunded because they cancelled the practical aspect of the course, once they had already charged me £300 on top of the original course fees, in fees for things such as changing course dates, extra meal & hotel vouchers that they had not told me about in advance, which I had asked them about beforehand, not paying online via PayPal (which they forced me to ring over the phone to change dates, etc, incurring these extra charges) - I barely got the refunds (minus £18) from BA for the cancellation of my flights from MAN - LHR and had to cancel the change of the holiday dates from my current retail employer - when I had to inform my line manager of the cancellation which change I had requested in writing to them they were very smug in thier delight and pleasure that I had failed and they told everyone on thier Facebook what had happened, resulting in my being cyber-bullied, flamed and trolled by fake Facebook profiles - I can only concede and accept that dreams are not reality and that it will simply never be possible in the current economic climate for me to become cabin crew, unless I get to meet a currently serving member of cabin crew who is prepared to act as my mentor once they get to know me personally and challenge the bullies on my behalf and correct a lot of the myths and misconception that they rabidly hold onto, as they simply will not listen to me, (what I say carries no weight), will not allow me to stand up for myself and will not allow me to make my reasons clear to them - in my current company, bullying is rife at every level of our company and you cannot leave unless you are sacked or you walk out, losing your 5 year history and looking bad to a potential airline employer - they are taking unfair advantage of a situation I am already in and moves are also afoot by my family to make (bully) me move back to Ireland - I really cannot see any way out of this

Irishmanc,

I see that your post was for Mari so maybe she knows more about your situation than I do?
Firstly I wouldn't advise someone to going on those cabin crew courses. I don't see the point. Many of them are scams. I never did and I have been working in Etihad for a few years.
Speaking in regards to middle east carriers, you can just apply online, get invited to an AD, if you get accepted then you will be the one that states who you want your ref to be and the rest is up to Etihad after the ref and police checks.
So I don't really understand how a current cabin crew member is able to help with your situation. Please excuse me if I have got this wrong or if I have misunderstood something but if you really want a job as crew then you yourself have to make it happen. Current crew members on here like myself and Mari can give you advice but in terms of your personal situations then that is up to you. You say that you don't see any way out but if you want this type of job then you will attend as many assessment/open days as it takes to get it.
You also say that you will have to accept that your dream of being a cabin crew member in this climate is not going to happen....take a look at some of the airline websites, some are recruiting. In etihad we are taking on new batches every single week. good luck.

Hi everyone!

I would just like to ask if QA,EK or SIA is strict about eye vision? i wear specs/glasses with -125/-125 grade, i can also wear contacts if they dont allow specs.. do you think there would be any problem about that?

Ground school

What do you pack for ground school? Also do QCA receive shoes as part of the uniform?
