Hi Guys,

Does anyone know what the fleeting is likely to be for new crew based at LGW for Summer 09?

Am guessing a320/21 and 757 - are crew likely to also be on the 76 or 330 as well?

First year crew at LGW will be trained on the Airbus A320/A321 and the Boeing 757-200, and I think now on the -300 series as well. Crew are trained on the A330 after completing their first season, and only if there are courses scheduled. The Boeing 767-300 is based at MAN, so it's only MAN crew on those aircraft.

If you're concerned about LH, don't worry too much. Thomas Cook are one of the few airlines out there that operate East Coast Canada during the summer on the 752 Etops, and Banjul during the winter. There are chances of some trips rest assured ...

would new cew be trained on B767 at Man?

Yes, new-ents at MAN will most likely be trained on the B767, as there has been something of a shortage of crew on that fleet, particularly this summer. There are 2 in the fleet, both MAN based, one operates a shorthaul programme, and the other is used as a standby aircraft for the entire fleet, so still no guarantee of doing longhaul.

and is it still the case that cabin crew don't do long haul until their second season or do they do the canadian 757's?

does anyone know the length of time taken from seasonal to permanent crew since the mytravel merger, i think it used to be around 4 years, what is it now?

Only occasionally the 330 is used for short-haul, it's not generally a normal operation. Not sure about the 767, I'm down in LGW so don't fly on it.
Yeah, cabin crew will do their first year on short-haul only then they will get trained on the long-haul aircraft providing thats what the company needs.
The length of time it takes to get permanent varies to what the company needs/wants. Some people had to wait 5/6 years before getting permanent while others got permanent after 18months!!

thomas cook weren't recruiting at manchester this year right?

* No longhaul, excluding Canadas and Banjuls, until your second year, and even then it is subject to the airline putting on courses for the A330.
* The B767 only does shorthaul flying, unless it is covering an A330 that has gone tech.
* Most crew who are re-joining have now been offered permanent 7/5 contracts, where they are guaranteed employment 7 months of the year and keep TC benefits year-round.

I thought Banjul's only operated in winter, is the equipment used on those 757?

I know the canadian ones are 757, but when do they operate and where to?

The canadian flights operate on behalf of Canadian Affair and fly throughout the summer season to Halifax, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.
