Medicals- Hearing Test
 

Hi everyone!

I'm just curious, how easy is it to fail the hearing test part of the medicals? I'm just asking because although I don't think I'll fail it's the only 'uncertain' thing about my medical AND I'm going to have to do it once I move to WA http://www.cabincrew.com/ccnetwork/smileys/smiley5.gif

I'm just freaking out thinking what if I move over there and don't pass the hearing test???? eek!

So is there anyway of knowing if you're ears are dodgy?

I know this may seem so dumb but I'm a little worried and I hope someone might be able to help..

Breeza..relax...the medical is very simple and if you are healthy you will pass easily. They tell you on the day if you pass.

The hearing test is soooooo funny. They put you in headphones and ask you to press a button as soon as you hear a BEEEEEEP...It starts loud and then gets soooo soft you can't even hear it (I was like...was that a beep or am I just thinking I heard it...ha ha)....I'm 100% sure I pressed the button when there was NO beep but the test lasts for ages and they must re-test you on the ones you miss....and as you get the hang of it I found I got better at it.

Yer Breeza - trust the chicken! What she has said is completely accurate. I actually had to do mmine twice cause I was no nervous, I thought I was hearing things and wasnt etc etc. The lady let me do it again and I had to really concentrate. Best thing to do is when you go in the booth. Close your eyes and concerntrate on the sounds. You will be fine.

the lady who tested me said that about 80% of people come out of the booth and say it was the hardest thing they've ever had to do.
I was really nervous, and agree with Chicken or Fish...sometimes your just not sure if it was a beep or your own heart pumping! I was very nervous about mine since for the last three years, ive been slack about wearing hearing protection on the tarmac and was certain i had hearing loss. But she said i had great hearing.
You'll probably do your test at the same place i did mine. You will be fine. Close your eyes, take deep breaths, and just relax.
