Hello everyone,
I am currently trying to do some research on the interview with Monarch for cabin crew. Can anyone help? Any info on how the day is planned, what to expect, to what they have or might ask would be very useful...

Hi all. I am interested in applying for cabin crew with Monarch based at Birmingham. I can see from their website that they have current positions but I was wondering if anyone in the know could give idea of when/where assesment days would be held and if successful would you be taken on part way through the season or wait until summer??

I'm not CC but I do work at MON. Temp CC are taken on for Summer and Winter contracts. Best advise I have is to apply and see what happens. Airlines never know one day to the next how man cc will be needed!

:confused:Can anyone answer the following question please. Upon successful application for Cabin Crew with Monarch where would you complete your initial training if you was to be BHX based. Are you required to stay in Luton for 4-5 weeks or is training conducted at the base you've applied for with practicals being under taken somewhere else?

I would be grateful for any information anyone can give. Many thanks for your help.;)

They would hold the training in bhx and you would go to luton to do your practical exams. :ok:

My daughter, who is 18 in January would like to join Monarch out of Manchester.
She is a fluent Spanish talker/writer, will that be of much help in her getting a position ?
I have flown with Monarch many times and always found them very professional, but what are thay like to work for.

Any tips on the interviewing process for my daughter would be of great help.

I passed my interview with Monarch and I wonder how the training is, will they give any Manual to study before the training starts? or will they give me the Manual at start of the training?
Do we have exam every day? How many pax fit in Monarch Aircraft?

How hard is the training? It is very hard, isn’t it?

but i will be 18 in 5 months time.
Im curious, if i pass my interview and wish to be based in Manchester, will i also have to stay in Luton for all the training?

I recently worked for XL airways for 4 years and i haven't had an interview since then.

im 18 in 3 months and im applying for Monarch cabin crew as soon as possible.
Im curious about a few things,
such as how strict they are on piercings, hair colour, make up, etc.
I have 2 piercings in each ear and my belly button, and my hair colour is platinum blonde. My make up can vary and im willing to do it how ever they ask.
Will any of the piercings be a problem?
And if i get accepted and want to be based in Manchester,
where will i have to do the training?

Anything else anyone can think of that might help me would be very very much appreciated!

Monarch Wannabes Interview tips.
 

I,ve been 2 the Assessment & Interview stage & I can tell u it was really easy than I thought it would of been.

It is quite along day,so prepare & bring a snack/lunch with you.:}
Talk about almost anything for they don,t not like silence potentials.:ugh:
Also mention as well that ur a good team player and work well within the team as well as on ur own.:ok:

As 4 visual presentation wear only 1 a set of earrings,ur belly button ring doesn,t matter (as long as u tell them that u have 1,coz I do & I did.)
Ur hair should only b in 1 color,they do not like the Joseph & the Technicolor Dream look.:sad:
Wear a smart suit(this they can see if u blend in well in their uniform)
Wear ur hair in a bun or a ponytail as this they see this again as ur hat is part of ur uniform as well & how it it would look.
But if ur hair is short then remember this wear it in a bob or a neat short hair cut/trim.

Prepare some question 4 them 2 answer like about pension schemes & holidays.:8
Other new ventures in the future that they may conduct inthe future.
(Like I did I discuss the new programme showing inthe UK called Celebair,i did the research & explain about the program in my interview regarding the they r the fore front of the show):mad:

History of the business u MUST learn so that they know that u have potential of learning about the business & at least u know something about them regardless old or new news.:sad:

ALWAYS smile & be pleasant,have patients as well,get to know the other applicants within the same day,learn thier names(even 4 the day)also learn the recruiters names as well as they would b the 1's that ur with thruout the day.:O

Im hoping i get accepted for an interview, i'll be devastated if i don't.
Im just going to have to sort out my ear piercings some how...as they're not what you'd call normal earrings :O
But i have an idea which im hoping will work!

Monarch: Checks & References

I received an informal offer from Monarch last week, after a successful interview. Subject to satisfactory criminal record checks & character references, they'll then make a formal offer.

Has anyone a rough idea of how long it takes for these checks to be completed?

Your contract is also subject to satisfactory completion of training. Don't worry too much about the fact that you have only received an "informal" offer of employment. This is just protocol. You should get a contract on your first day of employment once most of the bureaucracy has been completed.

As far as I can remember, when you are made an offer of employment by Monarch you will be expected to attend an Administration Day approx. 2-3 weeks or so before your official start date. You will be advised what it is you will need to bring with you beforehand. You will be required to fill out details of 5 years of employment and address history. Apart from Monarch wanting to check previous employment references, this is primarily for you to get a security pass so that you can freely access those areas necessary at the airport.

Normally, you can expect to have your airport pass ready on either the first or second day of starting, I know that at the base where I am you will require this pass for you to be able to access the staff car park as well. However, there are always people that there are problems with and who have some problem or other with references. Monarch will let you know if there are any problems and ask you to chase these up.

As a word of advice, prepare all of your references. They will want exact dates with NO gaps in between. Be sure to have these ready. Moreover, you will also have to apply for your Disclosure Scotland. This is something that everyone at the airport must apply for to show they have had no criminal convictions in the past 5 years. Apply for this well in advance as it can take up to 6 weeks (but normally much quicker), and you can easily apply for this on-line as you will only require a Basic Disclosure. If you haven't already had one, then I would strongly suggest you get a yellow fever vaccination as well as this will be required of you and can be quite a difficult thing to arrange around work, and sometimes difficult to get hold of. You may well have to pay for this, but keep hold of your receipt as I think you can claim a refund.

I'll be based in Dublin, and the letter didn't give any clue as to who or how the criminal record checks are carried out - certainly a Disclosure Scotland wasn't mentioned at all. The letter gave the distinct impression that Monarch would instigate these checks - but if they do expect me to go about it myself, they didn't say so on the letter. Maybe it's a different set-up for Dublin?

I'll try ringing Monarch recruitment to get clarification on that issue. All that reference info paperwork was brought to the interview on the day, so they have all that stuff.

Had the yellow fever vaccination done two years ago, but will check to see if I require a booster or not.

I guess Dublin is different for security checking then. I'm sure the base manageress at Luton will be more familiar with the security screening procedure at Luton for Monarch employees than anyone else.

I believe the Yellow Fever vaccination lasts 10 years after 10 days of having the vaccination.

If you have ever lived/worked in the UK for more than 6 months (im not 100% sure on that so someone may want to correct me on this) then you will need to get a disclosure Scotland otherwise you wont as they wont have any information on you so it will be pointless. AS far as Im aware the DAA require a 10 year background check on you for their security purposes, they seem to be much stricter than other airport authorities. Instead of a Disclosure Scotland you will need to get Garda vetting which is pretty easy to get and Im sure Monarch will help you out with this. Also you will probably need to get vetting from any country which you have lived/worked in for more than 6 months(again I may be wrong on the length of time).

The ID department at Dublin Airport can be a bit of a nightmare at times especially when working for an English company based there as the rules in England are different to the rules here but once you have all your references well sorted then it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

Best of luck and I hope you love the job!! Iv heard Monarch in Dublin are a great group to work for as its quite a small amount of crew there so its almost like a little family!!!

Found my vaccination document and noticed that my yellow fever vaccination lasts until 2016 (thankfully - that was a little more painful than some of the others, as far I can remember)..

Yes, from what I can gather, it seems to be a successful operation in Dublin - am really looking forward to getting started. I heard somewhere that some of the training may be carried out in Dublin, and the SEP training at Luton - so if anyone has any additional info on that, let me know.
