Ability to swim and eyesight?

Hi all.

I would like enquire into two questions.

Is the ability to swim a requirement for being cabin crew fi you work only for an airline doing domestic's? or at all?

And more importantly is there a minimal level of eye sight required to become members of cabin crew?

Thanks
Colin

agent x is right, and a simple search on most airline websites will show you this.

Crew must be able to swim 50 meters, often fully clothed, and tread water for 1 minute. If you cannot swim, get lessons or another career!:}

As this is a worldwide chat forum, domestic doesn't mean you don't fly over water.

Although you may not fly over an ocean, you may often land at an airport with a runway protruding into a body of water. eg: HKG, SYD, NCE, VCE, SFO just to name a few. Should the aircraft run off the end of the runway, you will need to swim your way to safety.

With regards to eye sight, you must be able to see, ie NOT BE BLIND. Now, not everyone's vision is 20/20, so all airlines in UK, US and Oz allow you to correct your vision with glasses or contacts. Some other airlines only permit contacts.
