Etihad accommodation allowance?

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and applied to join Etihad as CC a couple of months ago. I'm married, which is apparently not a problem (spoke to someone in HR at the training centre while holidaying in Abu Dhabi), however this means I can't stay in the shared accommodation if I am successful in my application.
Can anyone tell me how much new cabin crew receive to live out in their own accommodation? Any feedback on the subject of accommodation would be greatly appreciated! I know it is in short supply.
Thanks in advance :)

I got an email come through last night inviting me to the Melbourne assessment day on the 18th of November yay!!
Anyone else?

hi vespaet3, etihad will give you AED 3,312 per month towards the cost of your own accommodation. This amount may vary dependant upon rank but its up to date as its on my contract i just received :)

anyone attending London 28th?

adsSW 7th Nov 2008 12:50

Hey Glider, yeah I have been invited to the 28th too.

In the instructions it states that we need to bring along '2 x reference/service letters with current contact information'. What does that mean exactly, they want 2 references typed out before the day, or they just want contact information?

If someone could clarify it would be appreciated.

Frustrated

I don't know what to do again, I applied to Ethiad, Emirates, Gulf, Wataniya, Rak, Caribbean Airlines and the list goes on and on. Up to now no one has responded to me. Are they even interested in me?:sad::{

Anyone has any advice?

glider12000 7th Nov 2008 17:47

Adam,

just seems they need you reference details and their contacts, as opposed to arriving with your references intact.

adsSW 7th Nov 2008 19:30

Thanks, so they don't want two reference letters all written out, they just want contact details for two references?

dy1ng_to_fly 7th Nov 2008 22:11

I took the "two reference letters" to be full written reference letters. Otherwise wouldn't they just ask for the contacts with no mention of a "letter"?

Hi there...

My advice...KEEP ON TRYING and NEVER GIVE UP, if u want it so bad then it won't be a problem...

Let me tell u..i've been attended 6 walk in iterviews for Emirates, Etihad, Qatar..unfortunately i just made it till the final interview..

But here I am, still keep on trying and praying even my age is already 32 by this year whuehehe :P...

tiluchi10 8th Nov 2008 15:35

Donisha !!!
I just can tell you the same as Agungoma tells you, keep and keep and keep trying, i have attended three times Emirates, being eliminated the stage before the final interview and I think to try again and again !!!! let's see who gets tired first, me or EK?????hehehe
good luck !!!

Regarding the reference letters, Etihad have replied with the following:-

Hi Adam,

Either is fine, provided you have at least 2 referees with full contact details they can be in any format.

Kind regards,

Hi all

Thanks for the advice and motivation:)

chomelodie 9th Nov 2008 11:04

walk in / by invitation???

All the EY interviews listed in the website say "by invitation", wat if there are no email invitations received after applying on9, is it possible to just walk in??? Would they reject you on the spot?

Hi agungOMA

You won’t believe what I’m about to tell you… I’m also forever trying my hardest to follow my dream. So far I’ve been to 3 EK interviews and 1 EY.

Read the follow post which dates back to December 2007…

My plans are to re-apply next year April after I finish my Certificate III in Hospitality Operations which I’m currently doing at Crown Melbourne. I know this will finally give me the dream ticket, the job of a life time…

I’d like to exchange emails and stay in touch with you anungOMA…

8th December 2007 Melbourne Assessment
Hey Guys,

Well today was exhausting but well worth it especially for me.. I MADE IT TO THE FINAL 2-on-1 interview which is taking place tomorrow. I was surprised with the turn-out. Only 65 people & 28 made it through to the final stage. It would've been the usual open day casting but they decided to conduct the assessment after everyone said they were available all day. This is my third try & it was an emotional day for me. I didn't think I would be but the feeling I experienced today is hard to describe.. after every session opening up that little piece of paper to read 'Congratulations' you have made it to the next round, was overwhelming... I had to walk it off & take DEEP breathes because I thought I was dreaming. Well guys.. I best get back to it. I've got an online test to finish - wish me luck!

14th December 2007 One day...
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THOSE WHO MADE IT

As for me... well I'll be back again for another year but one good thing did come out of it & that was receiving feedback from the recruiters which is a NO NO

My story is I started 2 years ago trying out for Emirates making it through the final 2-on-1 interview each time but then received the awful letter first time & then in an email the 2nd time after already a year had past. Yes I made it through this far again for the 3rd time but my recruiter asked me what it stipulates on the website.. I said one of the requirements is having a high school certificate, but I only have year 10 due to personal reasons. To my knowledge I assumed since I made so far every time it must be irrelevant since it's going back over 15 years ago. All 3 interviews over the last 2 years nothing had been mention in fact no one pointed it out (goes to show they aren't detailed oriented) & I said this in my interview. Over the last 12 months since we don't get feedback I've had to work it out myself & I was beginning to think that was the problem. I was told I have everything they are looking for as cabin crew & great customer service experience (which was first time I heard & music to my ears) but I was told there & then the honest truth... I will receive the no letter. Having said that we still conducted the interview & everything was documented for the next time. Mean while, I have to wait another 12 months before re-applying but I will redeem myself by obtaining that certificate equivalent to a high school cert so the next time I make it through they won't have any excuse but to hire me! lol

If anything I hope I've inspired those that haven't had the best of luck to keep trying no matter what!...

Little_Red_Hat 10th Nov 2008 09:05

Blue Sky Sid... if you were in high school that long ago, then a high school certificate in Australia only went to Year 10... Yr 11 & 12 were optional back then if I recall correctly?? They were 10 years ago when I was in high school... might be worth looking into as if this is the case, it counts as a 'high school certificate'... perhaps EK have got it wrong (gasp! ;))

BlueSkySid 11th Nov 2008 00:04

Hmmm...

Hey Little Red Hat,

I don't recall Year 11 & 12 being optional when I was in High School dating back to 1992.

Year 10 is considered as junior High School but it does only say
- "Educated to at least high school standard" on the EK website??
then...
- "Educated to a minimum level of accredited secondary education or equivalent" EY website

My EK interviewer (originaly from Sydney) told me that another candidate was in the same predicament, but she optained a Diploma in Beauty or something that was equivalent to High School & got it!

Oh and I just realised that I had my EK interview only last year December so I have 2 months to go until I can re-apply anway :s

EY interview was last year SEpt or Novemember, I can't remember?? lol

Nevermind... I'm half way through my traineeship at the moment so I might as well finish it... and working for the companie that I do will open up doors for me - no doubt about it! ;)
