Dog eat dog?

Yes, its a bad time in the industry at the moment, we are all fighting for the same few jobs!!!

I have had 3 contracts fall through this year due to the recession.

I had to leave my last flying job as they broke the contract, leaving me in a junior position and in debt...

A few days ago, I was offered a nice VVIP position and accepted, then a day later I was told another FA had gone direct to the owner and basically stole my job!!!! Gutted, as I really needed the job and it was perfect for me. Thanks mate...

Now waiting to hear about another VVIP position, that I am shortlisted for - if this gets canned, I don't know what I'll do. Still got a mortgage to pay and no work and no income - aaarrrggh!

Ok, rant over - just feeling sorry for myself! But please don't let it be 'dog eat dog' even in these difficult times... Maybe I'm just too nice to do that...

Happy Landings ( soon I hope!)

Hi guys,

I have an interview with Amiri Flight, and have been in contact with Florence as well.

As I understand from these posts you will be on sby 24/7... That seems a bit much. For example in NAS you are on sby for one month, and then have the next month off! Seems more fair to me.

Is there anyone here who is currently working with them who could give an idea about the total salary for one month. I know it depends on how many days you are flying, but just to give an idea what to expect. And is it true that you need to share accommodation with another flight attendant?

And what is life like in Qatar. I have lived in the UAE and spent a lot of time in Bahrain, two places that I love. How does Qatar compare?

I am not afraid for a challenge, but I donīt want to work under a slave contract.

Thanks for any inside tips!

Emma Gemma 3rd Jun 2009 19:49

Standby 24/7 and you can't go home for the first six months. They also have a one year binding contract and if you leave before you have to reimburst certain costs.

Two people in each house or bungalow. I know that they have had a compound for the Amiri crew but also heard it's full at the moment.

Qatar is probably somewhere between Bahrain and the UAE...

Maedchen 3rd Jun 2009 19:58

Thanks for the info Emma Gemma.

I wouldn't mind sharing in the beginning, but I would much rather prefer to have a life and place of my own. I have already done that falt sharing thing with cabin crew before...It's not the real world. Any chance you can get an allownce for living alone?

Wanna be Business Jet cabin attendant

Hi guys,

I'm currently in the airline industry as a ground crew, and was wondering if anyone has any comments or feed back in the working conditions as a cabin attendant on a private business jet?
I'm considering sending in my resume and would love to hear from anyone who has experience working or maybe know of anyone working in private business jet environment. Thanks guys!
:)

elisa4 7th Jun 2009 17:12

You would need at least flying experience to even be considered...

How much depends on the company, but around 2-3 years flying should be fine to get started...

But its a hard field to get a foot in the door!

Working conditions all depend on which airline/region you want to work for..

Abu Dhabi base

Hi!

I applied for this company in February and I was invited for an assessment in April. (I was very surprised they answered to me at all!)

Unfortunately, I was NOT successful.

There were 7 girls (all native English speaker beside me), all of them with very good background. You need to be under 31 and very well groomed. They introduced the package and the working conditions. We had to give away our training and educational certificates, then we had 2 group discussions. Lunch and the interviews in the afternoon. You also need to finish an online psychometric test. Everything was very professional.

If you are selected for this assessment day, you will receive an e-mail with ALL the details. So, don't worry, they will let you know everything before you go.

I'm not sure I can write numbers here, so...

Basic Salary is amazing: more than I expected.
Accomodation allowance is great: you can rent a one-bedroom in the Marina in Dubai.
The allowance for your duty day is 650 dirham.
According to my source: tips are great as well.

You are on standby 24/7 but usually they let you know a couple days before where and when you have to go.

They offer you a two-year contract.

Elite Aviation

Their first aircraft just showed up in Abu Dhabi, nice colors.
The aircraft is operated by a European operation so I don't think they'll be hiring soon. Maybe in the future?

Im thinking to take some corporate flight attendant training in Beyond and above institute in Florida, it will cost me arount 3000$ with all the expences, im interested to do anything that it take to be a potential candidate for vvip position, i would like to have some advices if there is anyone that know about his institute and what i should have , some tips to be a vvip cabin crew. And what is the best thing to do or the best institute that offers a vip flight attendant training. im presently in canada.

Thank you indeed for your help.:)

vip position

hI GUYS,:)

CAN ANYONE ANSWEAR ME ABOUT BEYOND AND ABOVE SCHOOL , I ALREADY POSTED A MESSAGE AND NO ONE ANSWERED.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE , APPRECIATE THE HELP:):ok:

c3000 21st Jun 2009 02:22

Kelly,

As you are Canadian take a look at Sterling Aviation Services Inc. out of Calgary. They also do training and provide contract flight attendants to Skyservice Business Aviation.

I am not familiar with 'Above and Beyond', however, many of these companies are teaching you the VERY basic of what you need to know. And $3000US + flt + accom = a lot of dough!

I have few questions on NAS:

the job is on jets so:
is it one crew operation flight?
do you wear abaya during the flight? or are you provided with uniform?
where do you live? is it campus or just a flat inside the city?
do you fly with VIPs or anyone?
how are the trips? one day or many days?
i read somewhere that its mostly in the Middle East area....

Amiri Doha

Hi, has anyone recently applied for the Amiri flight in Doha and heard back from them? My details were sent off in June, I was told the girl in charge had been on holiday and would be looking at applications soon.

Does anyone have any info? I believe it's constant standbys.

Any info would be gratefully received.

mysza 30th Jul 2009 09:07

President Flight.

Hi guys,

Does anyone have any info on Presidential Flight (Amiri)?

Got an interview

mysza 3rd Aug 2009 07:39

nog84 3rd Aug 2009 10:15

Presidential Flight.

Hi Mysza,

sorry to ask again...I really should have looked back on the post.

Well I was ment to go for an interview with Amiri but could not make the date they requested.. Applied for them again when they changed Amiri to Presidential.

Do you have any info on the work rotation and salary?

need to pay fro ticket to Abu Dhabi (which I dont mind) so trying to get as much info as possible befor I go?

Any info would be great, thanks!

nog84 3rd Aug 2009 10:19

I heard the same about NAS to

mysza 3rd Aug 2009 11:05

no problem...:)
yup, they do not pay for your ticket or hotel
so it is kind of expensive....
it takes whole day (till 16), normal interview
welcoming, about the company, group exercise (two of them for us)
everybody is very nice and friendly but they are looking at you all the time....:}
there is tea and coffee
plus lunch with some people from the office
so you will meet lots of people
dress up (however last time girl who didnt dress up passed the interview )
smile
work is standby, salary you will get with your invitation contract with the details
it is ok, they give accomodation allowance, transport allowence plus out of base allowance
so if you fly a bit you can earn :ok:
plus tips!!!!!!!!!
on my interview only girls from EK got the job
so if you fly somewhere else or you are on a break your chances are smaller
(but that was some time ago, maybe now they need more crew )
if you have any more questions ask because i do not know what you want to know:}
good luck and let us know how it went
:ok:

nog84 3rd Aug 2009 11:40

Thanks mysza......that was lots of info!!!

Well im ex virgin crew but will give it a try........
