Attended the assessment day on the 16/2, received an email from Altara yesterday saying that I have made it through the reference check process now I am being on hold for further notice. Well, I guess I have missed out the ground school in May I assumed. Has anyone who attended AD on 16/2 made it to the ground school in May?

Hi there flyingmeow.I'm also on an " active hold " till Altara knows when Jetstar is holding a future ground school . They said they are waiting for that conformation from Jetstar (repled email from Altara regarding my question I've sent re: future GS yesterday ) .
Yes I think we missed out on the May one. Hopefully we are in August one.
We have to be patient I guess 😉

'Domestic' Aussie crew can fly short haul international flights on the A320/321. Trans-Tasman, and flights to Bali are very common (depending on where you are based). Although rare, under some circumstances you can be expected to fly as far away as Singapore.

Hello Kadara,
I was just wondering, how many days in average do you work in a month if you are Sydeny based ?

Hello Dream44,

Due to the nature of casual work, your hours one month may differ to that of the next.

SYD being one of the most busy bases in the network, it's very possible to maintain a roster working the maximum amount of duties per month during the busy months of the year.

Many casual crew experience shortages of work during the slower months of May/June/July, but if you're flexibile and open to work, it is still very possible to maintain a busy working roster.

Hi Kadara,
When you are working on the short haul international flight from Sydney, eg ; Bali, is that trip will be a overnigh or you will be back on a same day ?
How often do you get a shift like this ? ... once a month , every 2 - 3 month...?

Most short haul international duties are turnarounds (Trans-tasman for example), however there are regular exceptions to this.

SEQ base crew for example are regularly rostered 3 or 5 day Bali trips (via TSV), and they typically might get rostered one per month (if they're lucky), but many crew swap and trade different shifts to collect more.

Looking for advise on video interview

Hi Dream44,
I received an invitation to do the video interview online with Altara. I am really freaking out about it. Are there any tips or advise on what questions are asked and how to present yourself on this site please.

Goodluck with the interview don't stress it's not too hard I recently did mine. It's six questions such us tell me abit about yourself, times where you've showed great team work skills and stuff. They will tell you what the question is and you will have time to prepare your answers. Just make sure you look presentable in the video and have a good attitude and don't forget to smile!

Thank you Ikcin, I am slightly nervous haha. I will go over the usual speel of likely questions in my head. Tomorrow is the last day to do it, so it is then or never. I will dress like I am going to a face to face interview.

Hi there,
Best thing about Altara /Jetstar video interview is that you can practice the answer after you asked the question. There is no time limit. Also you can record twice if you make a mistake. Relax and be yourself and you will be fine 😀
