Apparently there is another Melb Assessment Day tomorrow as I know of some people going... I also know of some people that attended the July 15th Assessment Day that got sent ASIC email yesterday (3 1/2 weeks after I did after attending same Assessment Day)... Just shows you can't put a timeframe on any applications and that the recruitment is still ongoing...

OMG, Kevin!!! SOOOO happy you finally got to do it!
I honestly wish you all the best and welcome to 'the waiting club'! Since not much is happening lately in terms of progress, I'm sure you'll catch up with the rest shortly! Fingers crossed for your AD result and all that follows!
Wow, we needed some nice news!

Kevin that is great news and it sounds like it went well for you... Well done... Can I ask if they said anything about future Melb Ground Schools, ie throughout this year or waiting until next year? I'm on "active hold" like quite a few people (ref's done, ASIC done etc) and would love to know if they said anything?

Thanks D PrinC , you seem more excited than I am thanks for the lovely words . Sarah , they did mention that there are lots of applications and the process is quite lengthy so for those that will go through the next round , the ground school might not be ready till beginning of next year . But they are working hard to go through applications and organise ground shool so I think patience is virtue . I applied in May and I just managed to do AD . There were some people applied last year and just got to go to AD today so I think those that received golden phone calls they must be the luckiest and most talented some that impressed them a lot . It was also mentioned that it is not guaranteed you will go to ground school till you receive golden phone calls , she said that there were some unlucky people that received unsuccessful emails even after they have completed ASIC and medical check so to put it out there , unless I get the phone calls saying I am successful , it is still a long process of waiting and mixed emotions I am sure . Right now I am just trying to channel positive energy and hope it will lift me up to the next round

I had no idea how difficult (physically and emotionally) would the application for flight attendant be until now Not quite sure if the "no news is still good news" after reading Kevinsmiley's precious information haha, for maybe next year when they are recruiting new crews I will be considered "applied last year" and will get reject email automatically lol...
Yet I still see this whole process a very unique experience I have tried my very best for this position like everyone else in this family, and I think this is also something for me to learn: do my best and be prepared for whatever comes next. If the ground school won't happen till next year, then I will have some time to plan something else exciting to do, a holiday or a short course. I will try not to check my email so frequently so that I can concentrate on something else
After reading Sarah77's updating about today's AD in Melbourne and today Kevinsmiley's post, I actually felt released haha, rather than waiting for the result passively, I'd plan my schedule actively. So thank you all
I just have the feeling that something might go not quite right with the recruitment process (or maybe it's just the way it is, I never applied before so just assuming): there are too few of us have received formal contract yet, the continued AD, and of course, people still got declined notice after even ASIC and medical...Anyway, things are rather unpredictable, we just have to be prepared.
Fingers crossed, we will all get what we want and what are meant to have

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, (hi!), but just wanted to throw my two cents worth into the ring. Did my AD yesterday. It was fun and everyone was lovely but it was also busy, noisy and crowded. I have no idea how the assessors can assess suitably in that environment. Also, they said that they would be reviewing our online videos AFTER the AD and not offering any one on one interviews. Eeeek!!!! My video, which was the first thing I was asked to do post-application, was particularly bad, so, despite feeling like I did ok yesterday, I'm not confident. I guess it explains why I got invited to an AD in the first place!
Does anyone else feel like they did a crap online vid but still got through to further stages?

Welcome to this forum. You've come to the right place. We're very supportive of each other here and we share our experiences with each other for the benefit of all.
What was it about your HireVue interview that made you think you performed less than satisfactory? I think we all tend to be super critical of ourselves and the faults you perceived may or may not be perceived by others. Moreover, the whole concept of video interview is something that doesn't seem natural to us as humans...because we are talking into an inanimate object with no human interaction, and put under pressure to answer within the allotted time space.
I'm no expert, but I think you would find that they would be more interested in HOW you responded, rather than WHAT you responded with. For instance, they would be seeing whether you smiled when you talked, whether you had direct eye contact, whether you came across instinctively as someone warm, genuine and engaging upon first impression. I suppose anyone can rattle off a stock standard response to the questions, but I would tend to think that they are looking at how you deliver them and whether or not you were composed, calm, and dignified.
Have a little faith in yourself, and know that you did the best you could at the time. The assessors would be looking at your application as a whole, in conjunction with your performance at the AD, together with your Hogan etc. Its a wholistic selection process.
Once again, welcome aboard, and feel free to ask the forum any questions and we would be most happy to help and support you.

Don't stress about the video interview, never quite know what they're looking for! This is my second time applying and I thought I did better the first but got through this time so you just never know!

Rose17, I get ya! I was the same!
After sooo many years flying international and working in Premium cabins for ages, my video probably wasn't any better than yours. So, not even experience matters here...
I was looking at myself in that little screen thinking 'I better get this job, cause I ain't got NO future in front of the cameras, that's 4 sure!' Hahaha, was a disaster!
Yet, they saw something! And I'm glad they did 'cause rewinding it in my head over and over again, I was failing to see anything.
But, like SupersonicFlight said, we tend to be so over critical of ourselves, and for no reason! We've all been in your position before and we've all been nervous and skeptical thinking was it good enough.
But, babe, if you've clicked that record button and gave it your best, try to believe they saw that too! And that's all you can do at the end of the day.
Hang in there, little flyer! You got this!
If I were Pintrest, some cute pic would pop up now saying 'everything you wish for is outside of your comfort zone!' And I dare say a video interview was outside of a lot of comfort zones here!

Hey Moonie, congratulations!! I remember you from earlier on, glad to hear that you are enjoying it! May I ask, would you be able to give us an idea of a typical roster?

Hi everyone! We have a new roster starting 19 Sep until 13 Nov. For this roster, I got two trips to New York, two to Hong Kong and one to Tokyo. 😀

That's awesome, how exciting for you! May I also ask, what are the rules for the large suitcase? Does it have to be a certain colour, style, brand etc?

You'll only use the large case for long trips eg 7 days away for USA trips. For trips to Asia, most crew just use the Qantas supplied cases. I was told the large case we buy needs to be black and strong. Mine is a medium sized black Samsonite.

Awesome thank you moonie. Also, just wondering what are your favourite & least favourite aspects of your new job?
