hey there
I applied MAM at end of Jan as well as QCCA in March.

Ive been through the full recruitment process for Qantas/MAM and start GS on 13/5 - I received my golden call on 26/4.

Im still ‘in progress’ with the QCCA position however MEL candidates that are not rejected yet are still waiting on AD.

I’ve been told by a friend that her QCCA recruitment process took 2 years - she is currently flying now so I thought best to take what I could get and go from there.

Feel free to message me any questions you have, and good luck everyone!

But working for MAM is working for a contractor/handler with no benefits and working for QCCA is working for the airline with full benefits. So isn't that a no brainer for which one one would prefer to work for? Isn't MAM part time as well and QF is full time.
Wouldn't it also make sense to take MAM crew to QF as they already technically work for QF? MAM crew would just need an interview as they already work for QF? These are questions and statements at the same time. Just don't understand the process?

Melbourne Assessment Day candidates have already been asked to submit information about their referees and they will start contacting them this week, for a ground school start date in June

I think they are saying that they have already been accepted for the MAM position but because they haven't heard about the QCCA position they don't want to turn down the MAM just incase. Its better to have a foot in the door with the company than rejecting that offer and not getting the other, rendering yourself with a job overall

Hi There jwoww0502

Are you a Melb QCCA applicant?

I’m sure that references are only asked for once the AD has been completed and the interviewers have selected you to move forward with the process. My understanding is not all applicants that attend the AD are asked to provide them - my understanding the reference check is the step following the AD.

After the reference check is then the application for all security checks. This process can take weeks - at the moment I believe there is a delay with the ASIC check.

Once these are completed then the next step is to complete the medical and drug screen.

June seems unlikely for a GS given the timeframe it takes to achieve all these processes.

Hi,

Im already a cabin crew and am a BNE QCCA applicant. One of my friends i work with applied for MEL and had his assessment day on thursday and he got asked on friday to supply his reference checks (we are internal applicants but already cabin crew so we have to supply specific references).

The security check can be done concurrently to doing ground school. Just as long as you receive your ASIC before you graduate/do the aircraft famils. The medical and drug test can be done in a day and only take a couple of days for the results. The results get sent to Qantas not to you, they only contact you if there is issues.

When i got accepted for Virgin (not my current airline) gives you about 4 weeks notice until the ground school start date. They are more likely to progress you quicker if you can start quicker

Thanks for the update. From what you are saying internal QF (Not Mam or Altara) are attending AD. Is that correct? I was under the impression QF internals (QD, QLink & Team Jetstar) were not required to attend AD. Good Luck to all

No, Internal don't do assessment days, they go through a different process

We are both Altara so we have to do it externally.
Lots of Internal applications got denied early because JQ won't release them.
Lots of people who did apply externally still haven't heard back either, my friend and another friend both applied at the same time and one of them has heard and the other hasn't.

The internal people from our base have either not heard anything or have all been rejected

Can anybody shed some light on the recent AD held in MEL? Did QF indicate how many crew they were looking for?
Also did they cull or interview everybody? Was it group activity first and finished with interview?
My AD on Friday a bit nervous

From what my friend who went to it on Thursday said, they did a quick overview of the company and the job, then a group activity and the 1-on-1 interview, so pretty standard stuff
