Hi, Melbcouver I also applied for Melb base and I had assessment day on 14/07 last year, passed Xref and on active hold now, awaiting security check. I remember I read about medical, old threads from here dating back to Oct/Nov/Dec 2016 and medical includes vaccinations get signed off by your GP (diptheria/pertusis/tetanus booster and the first dose of Hep A... you can have all this done in one needle) and give this to the doctor designated by Qantas and also having drug and alcohol test, and some physical assessment done, such as bending, pulling, lifting....and so on. This is from what i remember I read from old post from this forum, so maybe double check from old posts 😉

I didn’t receive that e-mail but it may be due to being an internal candidate. However, that sounds promising and hopefully all of us on hold will be offered positions soon. Good luck everybody!

I got a call this morning from Qantas Recruitment!
They progressed me to medical and said as it’s been over 6 months, I’d need to do my security clearance again as well. No set date for ground school, but she said if all goes to plan it’ll be a July starting date! So excited!

I got same phone call but I don’t have to do my security check again, have you got the medical email from them yet? I am waiting for the medical email as they say they will send it soon.

It's by a Medical company, not directly Qantas. I'm Melbourne base, but they did confirm what my base preferences were. Also asked if I had the right to work in to UK.

i applyed in 2017 as an external, put on hold around Aug 2017.
today I received a call for a confirmed position in a July/Aug ground school.

Hi all,
Just out of curiosity, if Qantas is replacing all their 747 with 787, does it mean they will retrain their crews to 787 and giving out very few positions for external applicants?
