Hey danigirl!
This is such great news for you!! I’m so glad your keeping positive (unlike me haha) I was also put on hold in August and offered a Sydney based position however turned it down also. I emailed qantas people services to see if there was an update on ground school dates back in November but nothing was confirmed or scheduled.
Have you heard much else since?! Praying something comes available in the new year!

Hi Danigirl and Caitrose, I am on the exact timeline as you both!

May 2019 was my AD in Melbourne, etc. We may have met!

I then spoke about the Sydney opportunity a few times with Qantas Talent Recruitment, and also discussed it with my partner. They mentioned you're able to be placed in SYD base and then request to transfer to MLB. However, you have to wait the 6 month probation to apply to transfer and apparently some girls have been on the transfer list for about 2 years. So it was an instant no for me as I have already lived in Sydney previously!

Do you have any indication at all, or have you heard of anything about GS in Melbourne? Our 1 year hold mark ends in May, do you think they would extend this if they didn't have any GS happening?

It's my 30th Birthday coming up and my partner is finding it hard to plan something special away as we have no indication whatsoever.

Have you guys had your medical yet? I am sure we'd have a couple weeks notice for medical, and then a month notice if we are offered a GS date, right?

I've been more than happy to push everything aside the past year in-case, but now it's getting a little hard to plan things! Especially for my birthday and anniversary.

Goodluck Girls! xx

Medical stage

Hi again everyone - sorry for the second message in a row!

I am wondering about the medical and rsa stages etc..

as mentioned in my prev post I’ve been going through the process since AD in April/May 2019! And all of the references and background checks etc were done last year. I’m on hold for Melbourne GS..:

Does anybody have an idea idea of how much notice they give you between your call regarding medical checks and aural GS? And what the process is? I’m on hold but I feel it would be easier if they asked me to have these done now rather than last min!

any insight would be greatly appreciated as we aren’t planning a little holiday.. if I feel like it will be a rush when getting my medical call then perhaps we won’t go away...

thanks!

Hi Bellamia

From what I remember at the assessment day, the medical is only valid for 3months and can expire if completed too far in advance. Because of the cost involved, you will only move forward to medical check once a ground school is planned.

my call came 5 weeks after the medical. Then 5 weeks later GS.

I would get your RSA immediately if you haven’t already. Like tomorrow. It will be one less thing you have to chase up.

Hi Everyone

I'm brand new to this forum and so happy to have found you all. I went to an assessment day in Sydney last year in November. I'm waiting for my final green tick and it seems to be going very slowly. Anyone else in the same boat. This process certainly teaches us to be patient. Well done everyone for making it this far.
PS Has anyone heard of any ground schools coming up in Sydney?

Training scheduled for Jan Feb March

Hi everyone! I’m a current QCCA FA (Previously MAM Casual) I use to come on here all the time when I was applying for MAM so reading all your posts takes me back to those days!

Just letting you know that I’ve heard that there are QCCA initial classes scheduled for Jan Feb Mar, hopefully some of you guys will get your call and training date soon!

Good luck to you all!

Reapplying to QF

Hi everyone,
When QF says to wait 12 months to reapply after being unsuccessful, do you really need to wait that long or can you use a different email address and wait say, 6 months? I feel like they get enough applications in that time to not notice.

EKrew, thanks so much, this really helped. I forgot they mentioned this - Makes complete sense! If not much is set in concrete as yet, they wouldn't have me complete a medical until the 3 month mark of my application expiry.

Thanks again

PlaneSilly, thanks heaps! Where are you based with Qantas?

I'm trying to get excited about the role again.. It comes in waves when you've been waiting a whole year!

Side note - Do you think it would be a Vic RSA? Considering it's an Australian Company? Or is there a special intentional version..

Dreamergirl, so nice to hear form somebody in the exact same boat as me! (with City base and time-wise)

I have absolutely been walking on eggshells this entire time with taking a holiday! I feel like it's safe to wing it for a last minute travel break at the beginning on April, after reading answers to my questions about notice given etc. Especially considering once we begin we won't be taking any holidays for the rest of the year!

Thoughts?

Omg I know! I’m so curious as to how many of us there is as well!! And yeah I feel like surely they’d give us at least 2-3 weeks notice but I have a gut feeling they’re gonna contact us around March for some reason, so maybe only book your trip a week or so in advance just in case so you don’t lose money? 😟 it’s soo stressful not knowing 😭

I applied March internally as I already fly, but I think our 1 year is September as that’s when the next lot were notified of our successful application.

Still waiting with bated breath!

Ill definitely come back online if I get a date ... but wasn’t planning on calling them.

if they do respond to you, please let us know 😘
