yeah im with mango waffles, its best to fly straight away! my gs finished a wee before mango waffles, and I have had crew who were more junior than I. Training was hard and we did lose some crew along the way. however it is worth it!!! xx

Attended the interview on 3 April in Melbourne, and now my references are being checked. Any idea about how long this whole process takes? Is there any guarantee of getting an offer after your medicals etc?
Are you advised about where to do your medicals, security clearance etc?

ecstatic - congrats on making it this far =) the whole process varies! some people hear within a few days.. others in a few months so hopefully you'll hear back very soon! there is no guarantee that you will be accepted after you've done your medicals... if u read back a few pages there was a person on here that made it as far as medicals and security and then got turned away =/
and yes, they'll advise you of where to go to do your medicals, and what to do with your security

Ecstatic26 - just read back a few pages it is all still there. When I was applying I read all of the (relevant) threads on here start to finish and found heaps of great info. As for the medical you can't really prepare for it, it's an assessment of your overall health. Lots of bending, stretching, squatting, poking, prodding, as well as a urine test for drugs, an alcohol test, a hearing test and an eyesight test. My long distance vision is terrible and I was quite worried about it, but they test you without then with your glasses if you have them, and turns out I was fine.
Does anyone know if the 11th April GS ended up going ahead or were they all moved to a 2nd May start? Anyone starting on 2nd May have you got your package in the mail yet? I want to know where we'll be staying etc. Getting close now!

Thank you so much for that. I really appreciate it. I haven't hear back as yet about my reference checks. I think both my referees were contacted. I guess now my application has to undergo an initial review. Crossing my fingers all the while :-)

Hey guys, just a heads up for those that are waiting for a GS start date. It may be a bit of a wait. Currently theres not as much flying as they were previously expecting and theres heaps of crew sitting on Home reserve as a result (not sure if theres any bearing on GS start dates though, its just my opinion/what i think)

Just did my medical and I am about to send my security money order off sigh.
May I ask what base you heard that from? I have heard that there is HEAPs of work for SYD/MEL so I hope for my case that is true!!

Yeah Danfromaus is correct, we have been informed by MAM that the
next 2months going forward flying hours will be down...I assume all bases received this email, as we fly out of different bases all the times. Fingers crossed things get better.

How long after your interview were you informed to do your medicals?
I am from Melbourne, and attended the interview on 3 April. They told me that they were doing my reference checks, and both my referees informed me that they have been contacted. I am awaiting the initial review to pass me onto doing my medicals and security clearance.

Reference Checks
Hey guys, attended the RD on 5th april in sydney. Got an Email on the 10th april saying "your references are currently being contacted" however non of my references have been checked yet.. Is this a bad sign?

There are some that say their references were contacted three weeks after they had received the email. I attended my interview on 3 April in Melbourne, my references have been contacted, but haven't heard from them yet. Do you want to private each other and keep the other updated. Thats a good idea. Non of the other people who did their panel interviews on the 5th april have had their reference checks either. I guess its just a waiting game from here on now.
