Hi mapsyd and occygirl!

Wow my situation is different to yours again - I'm in the same position in terms of waiting for results of my online test. At my AD, we started out with a big group, were split up into smaller groups, and had to do a presentation to the group with an assessor watching and then we were each sent to an assessor individually and given a two minute on-the-spot problem solving activity. From there, they culled us into roughly half and those of us who stayed on had one-on-one interviews with assessors.

Two weeks (to the day!) after that I was invited to do the online assessment (day before Good Friday, so naturally, haven't heard anything what with holidays) and now I'm anxiously and excitedly waiting! Obviously not expecting anything for another week at least but fingers crossed sooner rather than later. Wonder what the next stage for all of us will be, as I wasn't even aware of another possible interview with a manager! Good luck

Hey there missbilly! yes! very anxious you must be...but at least you got through the hardest part...the interview!
I on the other hand am still awaiting for a second interview and no doubt the online test...so if all goes well my application will take a while.
Tell me though, what was the online test you had? was it hard? was it timed?
I wonder if the next interview will be like the first or more in depth....I was sooo prepared to answer all these questions (I think anyway...) and all I got was a brief "how how are you today"...which don't get me wrong was very refreshing and so layed back.
It is funny how afterwards one starts to analise what you did and how you acted on the day...makes one go a tad loopy! ha ha ha
Well, I hope we all get through and make it to medicals and references....can't wait to start.
Fingers and toes and legs and whatever else crossed OK?

Hey missbilly, your process is completely different again. It seems that each capital city does things a little bit differently.
If you don't mind me asking, did you find the online test quite difficult? I'm really wondering about how I did... A bit nervous I haven't heard back two weeks after doing it. It's not that I found the questions were overly hard but it was a little confusing at some points and I found keeping within the time limit quite hard .
From previous posts on this forum it seems that people who didn't finish have got through and also people who think they have really stuffed it up have got through so I'm hoping I have done ok. It makes me wonder how much weighting they put on the test results?

mapsyd - I will definitely keep you up to date with how I go, please let me know how you progress as well. Best of luck!

Hey occygirl!
Yes, it's funny how each capital city has a totally different process! In answer to your question, yes, I did find the online test challenging as a whole - in particular with the pressure of the time constraint! I really hope I answered all of the questions correctly. Hope that we all hear something soon folks keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for us!

Sydney AD 20th or 21st of March?

I'm going to follow mapsyd's lead and ask if there is anyone out there who attended either of the AD's held on the 20th or 21st of March?
Also, if you have any news about the results of online tests and progression to reference checks? I feel like I'm a bit on my own and I don't know how long the wait will be and it would be nice to know if there is someone in the same Sydney recruitment circumstances as me. Really want to hear something soon, the wait is killing me!

Occygirl....you are not alone! myself and another 4 guys that attended the Melbourne AD that have remained in contact have yet to hear anything about moving on to the next stage.. hang in there and yes, it is always nice to keep in touch with those that attended, but since you don't have someone, just vent here. It's just as good I think.
I am sure you will be fine and remember...you are still ahead of us here in Melbourne, we are yet to get through to online assessments and last interviews, references and medicals....such a long process. If we can hang on and do our best we will all be fine, I know it!

Hey mapsyd, thanks for the reply! It's great to hear you kept in contact with some people from your assessment day. My day went really quickly and unfortunately I didn't have the chance to grab anyones numbers...

With your attitude I am certain you will be hearing good news from virgin when they get back in contact with everyone! Thanks again and let us know if you hear anything! Good luck!

Thanks occygirl. Yes, I had PLENTY of time as I was the second last to get the interview!!!! lol
It was so funny at the end as it was just me and this lovely girl left...we felt so left out as as soon as you have your interview you leave.... but we kept thinking they left the best till last!!! lol he he he

Well, let's hope so anyway.
You will be fine and by your determination I see no reason why you will not get that fabulous golden call.
Hang in there and eat some chocolate....works for me!
(mind you, I may not fit into my suit again if I continue!!!!)
I want all the details ASAP after you hear and once ya get over the screaming around the lounge room with excitement....deal?

As a female pilot and exCFO I say the following -

Just don't ride on someone els's coat tales! like a certain female CFO did ok!

She was offered a job in shorthaul after doing a short term contract in admin at VA but had this attitude of thinking she was god with wings and 'failed before even getting into the a/c'. If your going to apply, be what you are and not what you think you are because at the end of the day you will be found out and be out $$$$! certainly if your like her or fly westwinds into the drink think again!

They need professionals, not BIC Pen hour loggers like her!

Stay in the kitchen or in the bed where you belong because it was clear where she belonged from the start AND she seemed heavy duty work, poor Stuart

Petty coat pilot, wow! I am not sure what to say here... I somehow feel saddened by that story and am also greatful that you brought up some great points. I totally believe in one being oneself, I for one went into this with the attitude that if they don't like me and feel I am not good enough that it is OK. I can only be who I am. If however they like who I am then that is a bonus.
My heart and my demeanour has always leaned to the service industry and to me this career is yet another form of building on and striving to excel at something I feel I do well. Wether Virgin sees this or not is not so important, it is important though that I know where my value lies... Hopefully they will too.
So yes, be yourself and go for it I say. I for one would love the opportunity as I am sure a few awaiting to proceed would also. So, good luck to everyone awaiting their phone calls, and I hope to see you up in sky sometime very soon.

Red face

Hey all! Well, Virgin does not believe I am suitable for cabin crew. Very sad to not even make it to a second interview to actually show them my worth, but hey... That's life and perhaps Virgin is not for me after all. Good luck to you all awaiting phone calls and all the very best. Cheers

Hi monrox!! Great to hear from a fellow Sydney AD attendee! I haven't heard anything yet but I am a little more confident that I haven't been forgotten now that you have joined the forum having also not heard anything

How do you think you went in the online assessment? I think I answered the questions alright but I'm not convinced I did overly well - the time constraint was really hard!

Having read previous posts on this forum I think the reason we may be waiting a little while is because a Sydney ground school was only started very recently so Virgin might be taking their time in letting us know if we have progressed because another GS might be in a little while down the track.

mapsyd! I am so sorry to hear this! From all of your posts on this forum you seem very dedicated and I am sure you are what they are looking for! Just so you know it has taken me a couple of times to get this far and with more experience in the recruitment process you will get where you want to be. Please don't give up, try again in 6 months and you will be all the more wiser about what the process involves and know how you can best show off your ability as a future cabin crew member!!
Good luck and best wishes for the future!

Occygirl, i agree it is so good to speak with someone in the same boat!

The amount of time deffinatly was no where near the amount needed, i ended up answering 27/30, however i dont think there is wrong or right for the assessment, fingers crossed!

Well that helps a little! ive been going crazy checking my emails everyday. I guess they did say there was a 6 month waiting pool.

My friend did the process back in january and she was in training 2 weeks after the AD. Wonder how long the wait will be

Wow we must be two peas in a pod because I only got to question 27 out of 30 too! Fingers crossed that it is good enough for them, I have heard of people getting to question 25 and still getting through so hopfully we will be fine!

Haha I have been watching my emails and application status like a hawk too! I am so anxious about it, the wait is killing me, I want this so badly!

Wow training two weeks after the AD, I must say that is very unusual! If you look back at the previous posts on this forum, including the original Virgin Wannabes thread, you will see that it can take as long as a year once you are in the talent pool. However that length of time is rare, from what I have seen the average waiting time would be 3 months from AD to training. But it could be longer or shorter depending on circumstances, like I said before, it will depend on when the next training school is, how many positions are available and how many people they already have in the talent pool... So therefore I can sum up by saying I have no idea how long the wait will be haha!
