Hey Misled
I'm going to go to the OD in Buenos Aires aswell!
Don't worry here in our country ODs are just a couple of hours long and ADs are held in another date.
The Od that was described earlier was maybe one with few people and held by Emirates alone (not with an appointed agency like Top Fly here) so when the number of candidates isn't as much they turn it into an AD automatically. But as said, this doesn't usually happen here.

See you there!

Question :)

Hi guys

Just a question here..

[/I]I went for an OD in Brisbane 3 weeks ago and made it to the FI. Helana my recruiter asked if I registered online before the FI and I said yes, however 3 years ago - She then said it should be fine, so I assumed they would find my profile easily. 2 out of 14 people in the final interview that I know have their approval in progress and one of them have got their GC.

I logged online again a few days ago and while at it thought I would update my registration. However a few days after that they sent me this letter:

We appreciate you taking the time to update your application to Emirates. Your updated application has been received and will be considered.

Should you be suitable for a Cabin Crew vacancy we will be in further contact with you. If however, you do not hear from us within 3 months, you must conclude that we will not be pursuing your application further.

If your personal or career details change, please log in to your user account and update the status of your application through our web site.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for your interest in the Emirates Group.

Yours sincerely,

Recruitment Manager
Emirates
Dubai, U.A.E.

The above letter is not a rejection mail.. is it? Your thoughts are much appreciated

Thanks guys and God bless!

rejection letter

This is a rejection letter from EK

Dear want_to_fly,

Further to your recent interview for the post of Cabin Crew with our organization, it is with considerable regret that I have to advise you that your application was unsuccessful on this occasion.

Should you still be interested in pursuing your interest with Emirates Airline, you can re-apply after a period of one year.

We would nevertheless like to thank you for attending the interview programme, and wish you every success with your future endeavours.

Yours sincerely,

Cabin Crew Recruitment "

Your reply from Emirates sounds like a generic e-mail which is sent out to every person who applys online for OD or AD.

I hope this helps

good luck with your golden call! Praying it will be quick

@ flyguy87 & Misled

Hey there guys!

@ flyguy87

There is no swimming test just the regular test described on this forum . If you receive the GC and make it to Dubai, in the training will have to swim with a life-jacket on, so don't worry

I had 2 interviews with them already (one last year and one in February this year), but no FI

@ Misled
So, ALL firsts interviews are these long?
Yes, because they usually got a high attendance no matter what the country is. In some countries (like mine - Romania) recently the number was close to 180-190 cabin crew wannabes so the AD took all day - from 9AM to 19.00-20.00 PM

Good luck guys and be well

Faaris & Misled
I'm sorry, I'll have to disagree with you Faaris on your answer to Misled. He/she was probably talking about the ODs here in Argentina that are conducted by the appointed agency. They don't usually develop into an AD the same day, so they almost always are just a couple of hours long.
I talked over the phone with this agency and they told me they didn't know when was the AD, and they would give that info only to successful candidates.
The AD itself, however, surely takes all day starting 9AM. Hope I was clear

FlyingCupcakeGirl I'm not a gent but they have to wear long sleeves!

Ekboi

We did 2 exercises, one was team building and the 2nd was just discussion/brainstorming.

The first activity gave us a task which they evaluate how we work as a team. i.e the task was to make a one meter monument out of paper and paperclips. Describe what it symbolizes, the meaning behind the building and which city should it be placed on.

Second activity was just a discussion on which 2 out of 8 passengers should be upgraded to business class.

After the evaluation of both activities, we waited outside while they sort out who gets into the FI who doesn't.

Now I will be heading onto my 4th week of waiting! I'm getting quite nervous and excited.. to be honest a little numb cos I'm used to this wait. My friend who works for EK said no news is good news - as the rejected ones normally would be contacted first. So here's hoping!!

God bless

@ PrimaveraCero

Thank you for clearing that up . I think I used the wrong words. Actually I was referring to an AD that could last an entire day, depending on the number of applicants. Like you said , an OD only lasts a few hours.

Honestly I do not know a time when Emirates did an OD and an AD in the same day.

Anyway thanks again PrimaveraCero for clearing that out for Misled
Have a great day
Be well

Hi @ faaris @ flyingcupcakegirl @ want to fly

@flyingcupcakegirl
Its prefered to wear a long sleeve white shirt in the interview. Preferably a gray formal suit or navy blue one

@faaris
Thank you so much buddy. Thats a big relief. You know we dont have a swimming pool around the town i stay. If i need one have to travel 64kms away

Have you recently attended any interview with them ??here too they have appointed agencies. No OD is conducted

@want to fly
Good luck my friend. Im sure you will hear from them soon. Take care

@ flyguy87

Hey there

Think with your heart When you want to succeed in the greatest job ever, you can convince your mind to make time once every 2 weeks/ once a month, to travel 64 km and swim for an hour or so.

I started to discover that when you are chasing your dream you start to acquire new skills, new life experiences, you become stronger, you're will and desire of succeeding grows and with it , you grow and develop too on so many ways

I attended an AD in Romania , in February, in Bucharest (180 applicants in the first day). Learned a lot. until September I have enough time to improve some things

Be well my friend

I had a friend who this happened to and he got his GC but a a month or two after everyone else. Just means you're on hold till they find a place for you but the 3 months is important.

That pretty much means you're in, just need a vacancy to come up This happened to a lot of people a year ago, particularly with male applicants, as EK was trying to get more females trained first.

Not much can go wrong from here. I know someone who got that email twice (i.e. three months came up, and STILL no vacancy, so they sent him the exact same email AGAIN). He eventually had to go back for a short FI and he eventually got his call. This was very rare though...99% of people that got this email simply had to wait a bit longer for the call.

CONGRATS!!!

Hey guys!

Just to give you guys an update, after 3 weeks and a half of a grueling wait I found myself a bitter news. A rejection email came through my email last night and to say the least I was gutted. Not overly sad or angry, but disappointed that all the hard work I went through didn't pay off in the end.

This is my 2nd FI so I am feeling a little lost as to what I did the wrong the 2nd time. As they are not allowed to give feedback, I wouldn't know how to exactly improve myself.

But, I do know that 1 year is not that far away, and being 27 next year is not too old for this job. I can't let this once in a life time opportunity go to waste

Good luck to those who are waiting, praying hard that you guys will get the call!!

God bless

@want_to_fly

Awe, I'm sorry. Did your status online ever change to "approval in progress"? A few of my FI friends have gotten their status changed to AIP, but mine and two other girls' have not yet. Should we be worried?? We did our FI on the 25/26 March.

Anyone else have any feedback to provide on this?
