Cobham Regional Cabin Crew

Hello

Hopefully somebody can provide feedback regarding Cobham.

Where can I find on line the agreement salary details, for Cobham Regional Cabin Crew Adelaide? I believe they fly to Moomba. How long do they have this contract for?

What are the hours like out of Adelaide? The roster.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi mate,

Cobham flies to Moomba (regional SA) and Ballera (southwest QLD) from Adelaide. I believe they fly to Moomba twice a day mid-week, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, and do a 'triangle' flight (Adelaide-Moomba-Ballera-Adelaide) every Monday and Friday, with a stopover of several hours in Moomba. I'm also pretty sure that Adelaide crew are employed as casuals, as they don't get the number of hours to qualify as full time. They also fly only one aircraft out of Adelaide, a Bae 146-200, registration VH-NJG.

I noticed your location says Perth, which if that's the case you're probably far better off applying for the Perth base - they fly to Barrow Island, Barimunya, Coondewanna, Kalgoorlie, Kambalda, Murrin Murrin and Brockman, and regularly do special charters (eg. Learmonth, Broome, Karratha), on a mixture of both BAe 146-100, -200 and -300 aircraft, as well as the 'modernised' version, the Avro RJ 100.

The Adelaide crew are not casuals, they are fulltime. Casuals have also not been hired in Perth since something like 2009, and that was a once off I have been told they will never do again.

Adelaide crew fly to Ballera once a week (or they did when I was crewing with them in late 2010) and the other days are Moomba twice a day. Typically you'd do a Moomba return and that'd be your duty done for the day, but often you do both the Moomba trips. It can sometimes feel like a long day (I can't remember how long it was exactly...maybe about 10 hours?). That being said, the service is extremely regimented and it all flows very well, and isn't hard. It is very different to how the operation runs in Perth, but this is to be expected when the base in Perth is so much larger than Adelaide. The training team over there are also a terrific bunch of people.

The Perth base scarcely ever does 'special charters' anymore - they do not have the time, aircraft or crew for that. In 18 months there I did one special charter, and that charter in itself was a once in a lifetime kind of charter. And I only was chosen to do it because I was part of the check and training team. 90% of your roster in Perth will be Barrow Island flights - this is the largest contract and the one they devote practically all their energy and money to. This contract is great in requiring many new lovely RJs and they seem to be getting them all the time!

Sorry I don't know where you could find copies of the aggreement online.

Chalk the ADL casual comment up to the typical gossip

There's been a number of special charters recently, hence why I mentioned it in my post, definitely more in the last few months than I've ever seen before - Learmonth, Busselton, Broome, Karratha, Onslow. I wouldn't say Barrow is 90% of the roster, probably more 60-70%, but your point is spot on - expect to go to Barrow Island more than anywhere else!
