hey miyoko

hello - well me also i had my FI in May and still no answer from them, i sent them emails/call them but in vain still no news from them.

at least you got to talk to your recruiter while i have not been able to do so - am still trying though (but always without success)

have the people in you group received the GC or rejection mail? I know one of the girl in my group got the GC as for the others i have no idea whether they got news from EK.

cv drop-off

Hi all,

Did anyone participate to a cv drop-off at EGHQ for arabic speakers.
Is the process different from an assessment day?!
Thanks.

To Miyoko and arvind79

I had my FI in NY at the very end of May... I've been reading these boards since end of June in hopes of finding some answers as well. There are several of us who have been waiting for months (and at some point, you just start thinking you have to make a decision... ya know? To walk away maybe? ).

Anyway, in July I sent them an email once I hit the 6 week mark as that's what they indicated we do on our FI form. My online status changed 2 days later to "Approval In Progress". Just the other day, I received my grooming email and then today my online status says "You will be contacted". I'm hoping this means that they are finally reviewing our group and we'll get some good news out of this. At this point, if you haven't received a no, you're still in the running. I would assume with the expansion plans, they utilize a rolling recruitment and people move quickly through the various stages, based on location of FI and recruiters.

I've heard from some people that the process can take a few months (and Emirates employee actually, on another board---took 3 months for the GC), and I guess those that get their calls after only two weeks are extremely lucky.. :/

Yes, you should take another job if something comes up. You can always resign during probation any time without any explanation. That's how it goes all over the world.

You haven't heard anything for a very long time. Was there an agency involved? If yes, you should contact the agency. What happened to one candidate was that her file was not even forwarded to Dubai for many weeks! The agency in London forgot to send her an e-mail that she should make new photos. The candidate wrote and left a message for Emirates after 6 weeks of waiting. They got back to her 9 weeks after the FI and told her that she needed new pictures. She received the Golden Call 3 weeks after sending the pictures.

Your file must have been misplaced. This is waaaay too much time without any news.

Cool DOJ Oct 3

Hi all,
Just wanted to check if anyone has their DOJ on October the 3rd?
I also have a question regarding layovers.
How many layovers are cabin crew expected to have during an average month?
Also, what is the layover allowance approximately? I know if changes between countries, but what is the average?
Thank you

meal allowances

Well, it's your life, miyoko. I would feel very angry, frustrated and disappointed by now and I would surely take the job with an American airline if I got one.

Thanks a lot Mari, your information is priceless. It helped me get a rough image of what to expect at least.
I am looking forward to join, my DOJ is October the 3rd and am hoping the training is as intense as I imagined it to be.
I wish everyone the best of luck and hope to see all of you in Dubai.

Mari

hello- well am from Mauritius and here we do not have to go through an agency or something, we just go to the OD and meet the recruiters and eventually we are invited for the AD and FI.

i had my FI on the 16th May and till now nothing. i emailed them my pics - no reply from them. i sent them emails after the 6 week waiting period - still no news from them. its as if i do not exist...i even tried to call them but in vain

my status has remained the same "under review".

some people have emailed them and they were lucky enough to at least get a reply or seeing a change in their status. that's weird, since nothing seems to be moving for me.

re: tattoos

Kabuli,

I just read your post, and from what I know, its not about how many tattoos you have or markings, its whether or not they are visible when in uniform.

I have a tattoo on my lower back, and they knew about this from the 1st interview day. It didnt pose as a problem as it cannot be seen when im in uniform.

So rather than get it removed, see if it can be seen through a white shirt...although cc can wear a white vest top under shirts! so im aware of anyway.

Hope this helps (i didnt read all the other replies, so not sure if someone already told you)

I'm I too old?

Hi all,

I've been following this forum and I think it's brilliant. Very helpful for those wanting to be Cabin Crew for Emirates.

However I do have a question, I am 34 year old male, do you think I have a chance? I applied online for an assessment day in Manchester but was not short listed. I am thinking of going to Newcastle open day on 10th September, do you think i am wasting my time with my age being so high?

Everyone here are under 30 and getting selected (congrads by the way). Have anyone heard anyone getting selected at the age of 34?

I have about 12 years of customer service and also worked for BA as CC few years back.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Cheers

Status change

Hello everybody,

I can not believe , my status changed last night to "You will be contacted by your Recruitment coordinator at the earliest."
It has been 11 weeks since my FI, and my status remained the same throughout this whole time. It was Under Review, until last night.
So happy, and also the same day I received email about tattoos, I will return it today.

Congratulations to all of you who received GCs, and for the rest of us, lets keep our fingers crossed.

Tattoos

Hi guys

This seems to be a pretty popular topic, so I thought why not add to the list of posts.

I will be attending the OD next weekend, however I have one small tattoo behind my ear, ankle and foot.

I do have a tattoo concealer I use occassionally, which does the job pretty well. However when the declaring part of the process comes along I do feel I will be honest and tell them about my tattoos.

Do you think this will impair my chances?
I am willing to have them removed as I have had them for a while and got the tattoos when I was younger, do I mention this?

Any feedback would be great.

Much love

thatsoph having tattoos on your ankle and behind your ear are not permitted, the one in your foot, however, depends on whether it can be seen with shoes or not.. but you already know.

This item is a little bit tricky.... It really depends on your criteria alone. Some would advise you to go to the OD with the tattoos covered and if you get to be selected you proceed to have them removed. But if they are discovered anytime during the process, of course you will be out.

Others would tell you to have them removed first and then try the OD. I am doing this last option because I could wait and both of my tattoos were on my ankles (they would have to be removed anyways). Also, I wanted to be sure they were completely gone before risking my chance with EK. I've already had three laser sessions with great results, the fourth on the 29th (maybe my AD on September 11th) and then the last one a month later..
(For everyone: should I mention the tattoos on my AD? with just one removal session away? or should I say that I don't have any? although lying gives me a bad feeling...)

Now you have to decide by yourself... Best of luck!!

PrimaveraCero thank you for your feedback I really do appreciate it.

My OD is in a few days - so I think my option is to do a good job of covering them up and make myself understood that I am willing to have them removed once at the declaring stage.

I think you should tell them you are having your tattoos removed. Honesty is the best policy and maybe they will also see how committed you are to getting the job

Thanks again x

Hi, I do agree. I think you should tell them about having the tattoos removed, and that you have already started the process of removing them. I think it shows honesty and commitment. Both are qualities EK look for.
