I work for EJ and can tell you at the age of 40 you are NOT TOO OLD to work there, don't know what your situation is regarding bills etc, but if you can stay where you are get a job to pay the bills and apply again in 6 months. Although I have sometime ranted and raved about how bad things are at EJ it will be worthit when you get the job!!

Age Does Not Matter

Hi

I am 51 years old and start my Cabin Crew career with easyJet on 7 Dec 2010. I wish I was still in my 40's.

Yes, irishmanc, a the previous posters have already stated, it's certainly not your age that is holding you back from becoming cabin crew.

From the easjet career website:
Our age criteria ranges from 18 - 65 so if you meet our minimum requirements, you fit within this age bracket and you have all the qualities we are looking for, you will be considered for an available position with us.
Do your research instead of assuming!

Instead I would have a good look at your performance on the assessment days and at what stage yo have been rejected. Until you say differently, I will assume you made it through to the interview as you wrote that you received a rejection email. Which would mean that your interview skills have let you down. This is something that can be practiced so not the end of the world. The hardest bit is to make it to the interview which you successfully achieved.

easyjet is very clear about the competencies they are looking for, and they even tell you during the assessment day if I remember it correctly. It's all common sense stuff anyway eg safety, teamwork, presentation/uniform standards, working under pressure, etc

Just think about all the competencies they are looking for (even send them an polite email and ask them to remind you, can't hurt!!!) and think of examples when you displayed these skills. Think of two or three example for each. And otherwise follow general interview standards (e.g. wear a suit, smile, make eye contact...). You can find lots of online advise including on the easyjet career website!!! Again, do your research! Being well prepared will help you on the day!

Also, and that will sound harsh, stop moaning and take control of your own life. Nobody can make you do anything or anything you don't want to do in this day and age and the country we live in. That includes your friends and family. If you are letting yourself being bullied, that's your problem. Don't let them. If this has always been your dream, don't give up. If it's not happening, do something else. But nothing good is ever going to happen to you if you don't stop blaming everybody else for your problems.
By the way, with 40 you are not even to old to become a pilot if that's what you really want (Once more, do your research, don't just assume!!!). The only person stopping yourself is you! Stop blaming the world and get on with it!!!

Sorry, just my opinion, of course I don't know you or your circumstances, I'm only reacting to your post and my interpretation of it so I may have it all wrong. Either way, don't let anything or anyone stop you from reapplying because there is no reason for it. You will find a lot of crew who started well over 40 and you will find a lot of crew had to reapply several times before it worked out for them.

Good luck with reapplying in 6 month time. Use the time wisely!

job application

Hi, new here,

Just sent off an EasyJet application on the 28th of November. The base i'm applying for is Bristol.
Just wondering how long it would take for them to get back to me? Would it be by letter or email?

Hi Joe

You should get an automated confirmation email that they received your email straight away.

After that it may take a while (some people hear back within a few days, others have to wait a few months, unfortunately.). It depends when and where they holding recruitment days for Bristol. There will probably some in Bristol at some point but sometimes you'll have to travel to London Luton or London Gatwick.

At this time of year easyjet is recruiting a lot for next year so hopefully you shouldn't have to wait for too long!

Hi Dolley,
About the application..I dont remember recieving any confirmation email..?
I got sent an email a few days later saying there was a technical problem of how my log in details were not sent to me properly after registering my account...even though ive already sent my application off..
Just sent it off again, dont know if this helps or not, and waiting for confirmation email.

Hi guys, I would like to apply for EZY and I would like to know more about medicals? What checks must be done, where and how much approximately does it cost? I would appreciate if you can list all medical checks they require.

When you submit an application form to us, you will receive an automated email telling you we have successfully received it. Please check your emails and update your contact details regularly.

Hi topgun

The medical is done by the GP who has access to your medical history (most likely the one you are registered with now) and it's just a simple questionnaire about your and your family's medical history.
It should not cost anything unless your doctor's practice charges an amount for admin reasons.
I can't remember what questions they ask but it's nothing tricky.
Eye sight may have to be done by an optician. Again, that cost depends o your optician but I think you can get them fairly cheap.

Callum,

you can only apply for one base initially but you will be asked for base preferences in your interview and you can mention your flexibility then. I would apply for LGW initially as it's the bigger base and expanding faster so chances are that you'll get an assessment day sooner.

It takes a few month between your interview (your interview, not when you send off your application!) and starting to fly.

First you have to pass the interview and it takes about one week before you hear back.

Then you have to go through the whole referencing and CRC process which can take quite a while depending on your history but will take at least 4 weeks due to the CRC.

And then they have to place you on a training course. That all depends on when the next place is available and may take a while.
And then you have to go through the course (about 3 weeks) but once you've passed your course you'll go flying pretty much straight away.

So if it goes as smoothly as it possible could and everything goes in your favour you are still looking at a minimum of two month between interview and flying. And that would be super quick, and half a miracle to be honest.

You do get paid from the first day of your training course though, not from your first day of flying.

unemployed for past 2 years

No, it won't be a problem. Either you have been claiming benefits which means they can get a reference that way, or you will have to provide a personal reference of sorts. Either way, they've seen it all before and know how to get the references they need. All you need to do is being as honest as possible, provide the information required and work with them.

AD Jan.18th LGW

Hi, I'm finally invited to the assessment day so happy, and scared as well, especially because it's short notice.
Anyone will be there already on the 17th?
Any advice/examples about the group tasks? that's the part I always fail... but it'll be the first time with EZY though.

Anyone for Luton on the 17th February for AD

Hello I am travelling to Luton for the AD this Thursday. Is anyone else's AD on that day. I am going to probably be one of the oldest there at 46 years old. I will probably feel abit out of it so Im hoping there is someone there who is at least over 30.

Also whilst reading about Easyjets criteria they did state that you should not have any tattoos. I have a 4 letter name on my forearm, which can be covered but Im just alittle worried if I pass and we are made to wear short-sleeved blouses. I can cover it with make-up but do you think this will lesson my chances if they see it at the AD.

Im having a debate with myself here whether to turn up or not, Many thanks everyone.
