I know there are other options but if you really must know I really do want to go to the middle east.. I ant to work with multi national cabin crew... and I want an entirely new experience.... I do not want to go to say england and live on my own and be with only english people..

so you tell me where else i would go to fullfill these requirements...

and if you think i sound desperate?

Well i started appplying in november and now its march and the whole thing seems to be up in the air..

Gulf Air - Wannabes & Recruitment

Hi All
Sorry if this has been answered before, I did do a quick search but couldn't find much.

I have just received an email inviting me to an assessment day. I just have a couple of questions... silly they may be... I really want this!

1. What is the layout of the assessment day? Similar to the others?

2. I wore a skirt to my last 3 interviews but didn't feel entirely comfortable. Was going to wear trousers to my next one, but I have a feeling that being a middle east airline, Gulf Air would prefer skirts?

3. I don't wear that much make-up at my current airline, but again being middle eastern, should I make sure I wear a lot of make-up? My current airline is really relaxed but I want to make a good impression!

Sorry if they are stupid questions, I'm just not sure where I went wrong in my last interviews and am rather nervous :-)

Thanks x

assesment gulf air

hi, i am quite interested as well in doing an assesment day with gulf air, theyīre coming to spain soon.
i attended several assesment days in others airlines, and i imagine the sequence will be the following approximately:
  1. height reach and weight.
  2. correct documentation (passport, studio pictures, cv, academic and working certificates.......)
  3. english test
  4. one to one interview, group discussion (in etihad you have to choose an object.... newspaper, pen, water, mobile,........
  5. final interview
regarding grooming, yah of course make sure you wear a fresh make-up, neatly tied back hair, business attire (knee lenght skirt, high heel shoes, stockings, not revealing clothes......)
good luck

to try or not to try

Hey guys,

I've attended the Gulf Air interview and got a contract! I actually should be so happy but somehow there are no emotions at all. I am not sure if the salary is high enough, especially comparing to EK or EY, and the number of destinations is quite limited as well, neither convinces me the allowances amount.... Is there any GF ex-/cabin crews who could tell about the situation? I am really confused if to go or not!

Thanks everyone

Hey! I hope it will be ok with your visa status!! As for me, I was reading the contract and didn't really understand what happens if I want to resign during the first year, should I compensate the expenses of the training only or there's something else? Just in case, you know! My friend attended Emirates open day a couple of days ago, and they said they pay like 700€ during the training period, whereas our pay would be like 580€ , what do you think of it, is it the same on your contract?

Firstly, i think you have to be very grateful for being recruited for Gulf Air because it is a good company and not easy to be succesful.
then, regarding the payment, donīt worry as they pay enough you to eat and live properly; and when you start flying your pay will increases.
if you resign you will have to pay something but................. donīt think about that, try to be positive!!

I think they don't take men, except for Omani, Bahreini and Emirati. My male friend was trying to get in and got an apology letter "you don't meet our minimum criteria", and he's an experienced CCM

I can tell you from my experience, I just passed their inteview on 26 september.

The basic points:

* don't talk too much, i.e. don't answer more of what you are asked, short and nice answer accompanied with a humble smile is the best

* at group activity, they may ask you to do it standing - dont touch your hair, don't cross the fingers, don't change poses every 10 seconds - try to stay relaxed. DON'T start talking first!! DON'T try to be a team leader!! Listen to the others, don't argue, nod and use basic phrases, as "yes, I agree with you", "it is a very interesting idea" etc. It is important HOW you act, rather than what you say

* prepare answers to the questions like: ˇwhy gulf air, ˇwhat's the best and the worst at flight attendat's job, ˇhow would you deal a difficult customer, ˇdescribe a situation when you actually did more then prescribed to help a customer. Answer smoothly, without "ummm", "eeehh", and again, quite shortly and with a humble smile

* be ready to answer basic things about gulf air, when it was funded, what types of aircrafts, what destinations etc

Be aware that you are being constantly watched, so mind the attitude at all times!!

Hope this helps, and good luck!!

Please. Read the fine print if you get any, you need to know what you are signing up for.

Prepare to be treated like a moron. The company will try to work you as hard as they can. If you object because it is illegal, then expect warning or dimisal. (or standby for an month). Have a backup plan.

The routes are average at best, If you like variety between the third world and 2nd. Then this is the job for you.

The aircraft are old, the passengers expect the best, but you are provided the worst to provide to them. Working entertainment systems are completely optional to Gulf Air, as a World Class Airline.

Just do your homework. There is a high turnover of cabin crew in Gulf Air for a reason.

hiya....well I had a problem with my PP because I had a print from Israel, so normally I wouldnīt be allowed to travel to any Arab state but they were really kind to me that I could just get a new one....hopefully itīs enough

Well...I am healthy, I have done the blood and urine test already in my country and everything seems to be fine. The only thing is that I am not sure about my eyes. They havenīt told us if theyīve got some limit like 6/6 or we would have to have a perfect 20/20.

I am wearing contacts and my vision is fully corrected by that but not sure if it would be enough for them....well....have to wait....still I donīt wanna be disappointed and jobless after all

Do you know something more about that?

I was checking the net yest and became even more confused by all the comments on other forums. And one thing is for sure....there is the least info about Gulf Air among the others like Emirates or Etihad.

Still it is a little bit strange that we donīt have to do the medicals before we fly to Manama.....

Anyway....thank you a lot for your reply and hope to see you in Bahrain...

Gulf Air

Hey. I've just got home from the Gulf Air assessment day in Dublin, started out with 12 people and got narrowed down to 7 by the end of the day. I was one of the lucky 7 to be offered the job. The day was as I expected, typical layout. It all went well the 2 ladies from Gulf Air were Judith & Rhonda both from Northern Ireland. Really nice ladies, make you feel really welcome etc. Really wasn't expecting to be offered the job there and then so was in total shock once we found out!!
Anyone any questions let me know sure!

Hiya Nuria.....my name is Sonia and I am from the Czech Republic....and hello Vix85....I am not surprised by what you wrote....it was the same in Prague....only 13 girls showed up and 3 lucky ones were selected....

most of the girls didnīt make it through because of the grooming test....like one girl had something on her hand which wasnīt that visible and still didnīt get through...but sheīs got the job with the Etihad....so, it really depends. And also the weight was important....like I donīt think that British Airways or any European airlines would count it so much....but thatīs Middle East....so, welcome to Miss Airline

My opinion is that they didnīt advertised that much in the Czech...only a short article in the newspaper and I found out about the recruiting on www.cabincrew.com ...was slightly nervous as some people in the forum were writing really bad things about Gulf Air but for me it is not about the money....so, I donīt understand how people can even talk about it or trying to compare the salaries between Emirates, Etihad and Gulf....

On the other hand Emirates come to the Czech every six months and they usually take 2 people from 100....so, I wouldnīt really waste my time.

Hey...Nuria, and how was it with Qatar Airways? Why did you quit? One of the girls that was selected with me used to work for Etihad but she would no go back and didnīt really wanna talk about it........ and you? did you enjoy it....why that change?

Interview

Hi there, i recently just had a Gulf Air Interview.....this has to hae been the most easiest interview ever! its clear that Gulf Air are more bothered about image! If you have any visible scars or tattoos on your legs, arms, neck which passengers will be able to see dont bother going to the interview. There was more than half of the girls got turned away at the glasgow assessment day! even one girl who wore a brace!

The first part is a an english test, reall easy just make sure you read it carefully.

Then its group execise's, we were asked to discuss what are fears were and if we had a million dollars, the two ladys walked around the group making notes...just be your self and you'l do great!

Then it was Grooming, they check your neck, arms and legs. The also ask you to smile so they can see your teeth!

Then they decide which girls are going home because of there grooming!

Finally its the interview, there was 4 girls in my interview and the two lads from gulf, they asked us to give an example of excellent customer service and bad customer service, they also asked us what we knew about Gulf Air and then "when can you start".
we waited outside the room for a few seconds then they called us all in and offered us the job!

Everyone who had the interview at the end got the job!

Hope that helps,

I was one of the lucky ones and i hope to start in about 2 months.

Good Luck (remember to smile)

xx

Hi download...I think the others have said it before but the open day or assessment day for Gulf was quite easy as f.ex. in Prague only 13 girls turned up and the first was an English test which the easiest I have ever done....honestly just read carefully and you cannot fail, then it was the group discussion, each group had her own coordinator (there were two ladies, one English and the other Irish) and we had to talk about who would you like to meet, whatīs your favourite meal, music etc....really easy.... donīt forget to tell a bit more and always from experience...that actually worked...but of course if you are a great actor, you make up something interesting...as long as you donīt say "I donīt know"...itīs fine. Then the ladies swapped the groups and everyone got a piece of paper with things like : describe yourself using one word....etc....it was about to be natural... or you had to tell something about the girl standing in front of you.... you cannot be rude or something like that....everything has to be polite but being natural is just the key.

Then it was the grooming test and actually that closed the gate to the most of the girls....as they didnīt pass the weighing or they had a visible scar, tattoo etc.

As you can see, it was the same everywhere...so, I think that anyone else interested in this case, please read through this thread and youīll find what you need to know about the AD for GF.

If you need to know other info about Gulf, go to their website as I have no idea where they are recruiting at the moment. But surely you can find a lot of places in Europe.

Good luck.

S.
