Refer

Could they have taken that info from you original application form?
Does sound a bit odd. Still I should not worry the good news is your refs are being done, which means you are one step closer than some of us.
LOL x

Training

Could someone please tell me about the exams during training. I understand we have exams everyday for the six weeks. What sort of exams are they? - Essay type questions? Multiple choice? Verbal? Short written answers? Is it true you have to get 90% for each exam and 95% if you fail one? Do many people fail the course?!Thanks x

Virgin Atlantic Pre Flight Briefing

Hello all,

I am soon to start training with Virgin Atlantic.

Could you let me know what your pre flight briefings are like and what happens?

At EZY we start with making sure everyone is ok to fly, has all their stuff checked NTC's, emails and checked in. Then we have 1 SEP question from a list of 3 for that week then the same for 1st Aid. Then PAX figures and flight times, then we meet the flight deck then that’s it.

Is Virgin the same? What is the SEP and 1st Aid questions like?

Cheers Keiran.

briefings

Hi, Im a Fsm with virgin. Firstly congratulations on joining virgin .

The briefings are nothing to worry about, its the same kind of format really. Firstly the fsm introduces themselves, and the css's. Then informs all the crew of pax load, vip,s , any special medical customers, aircraft type, specification etc. And sets out the service standards of what he/she would like. The sep department every month sets a briefing scenario, with questions relating to sep or avmed. You as crew find out upto 4 weeks in advance of what the next scenario will be and where and what to read up on. You will be asked one question which could have more than one answer. If youre not sure they will rephrase it for you. The css then carry out there briefings and confirm service standards in each cabin. Finally the fsm will sum everything up and bring things to a close. Hopefully in this time the flight crew will have introduced themselves. The briefing lasts approx 20 mins . Hope you enjoy flying with us.

Virgin Recruitment Day - Advice

Hi Everyone,

I have been invited to attend the Virgin Recruitment Day on 25th sept and am looking for any advise from people who work for virgin or have been to a day just to get some pointers on what happens etc.

The biggest question I have really is do virgin like you to wear a suit or not - i know when they first started they told all with suites to leave and not sure if that still applies.

Any pointers to help success would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

There is an extensive discussion on the entire recruitment process on the Virgin Wanabe Thread. I strongly suggest reading it from begining to end. I would also suggest you read other airline Wanabe threads, they will also give advice on different things that might come up in an airline interview. After all, the recruitment process changes, and your day might be completely different from that of someone who appied last month.

Good Luck!

Hi LIKE A VIRGIN

You will have an exam every day in the morning covering things you learned the day before and also things you may have been asked to read in the manuals etc. There is an 87% pass mark, and all the exams are multiple choice, except the PELDS which you have to write out. If you fail then you will have to resit an slightly harder exam on the same subject the day after in at the end of the day again multiple choice. If you fail this then you go to a viva which is a verbal exam that will require very detailed verbal answers. This is taken the following day. So you really don't want to fail exams as you are then playing catch up and there is a lot of work to do!

Some people do fail the course, as they fail one exam and then it really does put a lot of pressure on you! My advice is work hard on the course and give up ant social life for a few weeks and then once you've passed let the fun begin!

Good luck!

Training Course

I am due to start training really soon and am doing my online course. I have just taken one test and passed it. However, I decided to do it again so I could get a higher pass mark but my score went down!

I read in my notes that "When serving the flight crew, drinks must be passed to the left of the Captain and the right of the First Officer". However, the question in the test is worded differently and asks "When serving members of the flight crew, how should you serve them drinks?" Is it:-
Pass the drink over the inboard shoulder
Pass the drink over the outboard shoulder
Pass the drink over either shoulder
Drinks are not allowed on the flight deck.

I know I am extremely ignorant but I don't know what side the captain sits on so don't therefore know whether the drinks should be passed over inboard or outboard shoulder. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I do believe its outboard my love. Outboard is where the window is and inboard isn't.
Captain on the left - First officer on the right
If i've got that wrong, someone correct me, I'm just in from work!
