Virgin applications

Hi Mareke,

I apologise for not answering your original question, but I am extremely interested in working for Virgin Atlantic and have been frequently checking the careers website for vacancies. The website currently says that there are no vacancies.

I notice you are filling out an application and you posted yesterday. I was just wondering if I was looking in the wrong place , and if you could point me in the correct direction.

Kind regards,

Andy

Any Virgin Atlantic crew??

Hi!

I currently work for Virgin Blue in Australia but my dream is to work for Virgin Atlantic based in the UK. I do not have an EU passport as the requirements say you need, wondering if anyone knows whether they hire on a working visa?

Any insight into working for Atlantic would be nice too!

Thanks!

I've had an invitation to an assessment day with VS on hold now since Jan 09, this week they've finally emailed to say the assessment days will be going ahead soon with training courses (should i get the job, that is) starting in the autumn. Has anyone else in their "assessment hold pool" had this email?

Hey I applied last year also and received an email saying to let them know if I am still interested within 3 days and that assessments are being held over the summer with Autumn start dates etc. It wasn't an invitation to assessment though. Is this the same or a different email?

What stage did you get to before? I wasnt offered an interview before as they stopped recruiting so not sure whether the email implies I will have an interview or not. Slightly confused :/ x

Hi there,

It appears I had the same email as you. I got as far as them arranging a date for the assessment day, then cancelling it a day later.

The email basically says (reading between the lines) if we reply and say we are still interested, we will get interviewed - before they recruit externally. Just waiting for a date now, I hope it comes soon!

There would be no point in them asking you if you still want to be considered unless they WANT to interview you. Doesn't make business sense as it just creates more work for them. They're not going to email people 18months later to say "sorry, but no thanks" are they? They're just checking that you still want to attend the assessment day before they start ringing everyone. Otherwise it wastes their time, if half the people who originally applied are no longer interested.

Hey guys. I also got an email about being invited for an interview. That was a week ago so just trying to be patient now and wait for an interview. A friend of a friend works in recruitment and apparently the interviews are being set up for july. I wonder how many people are waiting to be interviewed. Really hope they email soon!!

I'm in the middle of applying, just writing up answers for the few questions they have...don't want to mess that up.

Anyone applied and got assessment/interview dates?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if you can commute from Glasgow to Gatwick/Heathrow if successful?

I was recently on a Virgin flight to Glasgow where one cabin crew member said that a few of them commute from the Glasgow area to start their shift in London. Is this possible for a newly qualified member of cabin crew? I really want to work for Virgin but not keen on moving down south permantly.

Can anyone help? Thanks

^^^^

Yes Katwoman of course it is.

Whilst it's true VA prefer you to be within a 2 hour radius from LHR/LGW, there is nothing to stop you commuting. We have commuters further than Glasgow such as Copenhagen, Dubai and even LA!!!!!!!! I kid you not.

Obviously the closer you are the better but so many of our CC commute. You just have to be prepared for the cost of it and occasionally arranging hotel stays for standby months if you haven't made friends with a CC who lives in Crawley by then ;-).

Oh and you will soon become a regular face at service stations for those early morning check ins!

Have you applied yet? I personally can't wait for new crew to start - we need some fresh faces and enthusiasm!

Good luck to all of you who have interviews btw. Any questions - just ask! x

Hi A_Zone_Only I know this can be a personal question so I'm happy if you don't want to answer it. Was hoping you could give an idea of what pay is like beyond the base salary, perhaps what you can expect to take home each month?

Thanks
