I much enjoy flying ANZ and sincerely hope that their recruitment process weeds out people such as ib16uk who can't even be bothered to check on any website to look at departure times from LHR yet has the time to post on this forum

The real Air New Zealand, perhaps, instead of the cheap Zeal knockoff?
Bitterness is not becoming, sweetheart.

I'm sorry bitterness is not becoming, but yes I am bitter.

As longhaul permanent crew I'm not directly affected (yet) by the Zeal masquerading as Air NZ debacle, but I'm bitter on behalf of my colleagues who had the temerity to expect a decent (by no means excessive) wage in return for their hard day's work, and were replaced by the Zeal crew, who happily work for inferior pay and conditions.

A 20 year old purser with 18 months flying experience may be far more attractive than my older, less perky colleagues, but to have him in charge of an A320 with nearly 150 souls aboard in an emergency is not a flight I'd want to be on.

LAX (2 Night's)
HKG(2 Night's)

Aircraft used : 747-400's and 777's

Read the website and Good Luck !!

Money is split into 3 types for example :
Your training pay is £7500 per annum
and your probation pay is £8500 per annum and once you complete your probation your pay is 10500 . I might be out by £50 on each example but just to give you some idea . And you also get your allowances down route cash in hand $$ .

Hope this Helps
I have just read this whole thread - thank you for your input and help.

I have an interview in July with ANZ.

In regards to the pay rates above. How long is the training and after graudation does it go up to the £8500 straight away? Also, how long is the probation period? And how much do you get down route in the hand.

What are the crew like? From looking on the web it says they are some of the nicest in the business.

I am excited. I really hope things go favourably for me .

Interview July

Hi

I also applied last week and got an email back saying they would be in touch in 2-3 weeks time. When did you find out about your interview date?

Red face work permit

anyone here can help me. I have applied air new zealand, and just had my telephone interview yesterday. One thing i forget to ask during the interview, which is Air New Zealand sponsor cabin crew a work permt or not. I am Chinese, currently working in a big chain hotel, my work permit is sponsored by my employer, but if i change employment, the new emplyer has to sponsor me a new work permit. Anyone knows anything about if Air New Zealand does this for new cabin crew? thanks very much!!

I'm rather surprised you couldn't even be bothered to read the very easy to find webpage: http://www.airnz.co.uk/aboutus/caree...attendants.htm
Requirements

There is strong competition for relatively few vacancies, which may become available according to operational requirements. Unfortunately not all applicants will be interviewed. Applicants must meet the requirements as outlined below:

United Kingdom (UK) Residency
Only permanent UK residents will be considered (including those born outside the UK who have a valid work visa for the UK).

Passport
If successful with your application you will require a current passport. Airline crew are not permitted to operate on a Mainland China Passport.

First aid

Hi

You need to have a valid first aid certificate from either the red cross or st johns ambulance - if you are sucsessful you will need to have it b4 you begin the training as you don't cover it in the course!

Hope this helps

Hey

Thanks For that

I find it SO bad that you need to bring it before you even get the job.

But thanks anyway

Hi Stephen,

When I joined 7 years ago, proof of enrolment in a Red Cross/St John comprehensive first aid course was all that was required at the interview.

In other words, bringing along a letter from Red Cross/St Johns saying I was enrolled in a first aid course was good enough, as long as I completed it before training.

You might want to check and see if this is still the case.

I went to the interview last June and did not have the first aid certificate, they did not require this until after you are offered the post and you needed to have this by the time you attended your admin day. I booked the first aid course when I had confirmation that I had been offered the job. I still have the certificate so am using that for these assessment days coming up as I did not start with them in the end.

Question A few questions

Hi all,

I'd appreciate some information from NZ LHR based cabin crew please. I live in North East England so the rostering side of things is especially important.

I've read through the posts on here and found 'some' information but not everything I need to find out. So if any decent people can assist, that would be great and thanks.

1. How many nights do u stay over in HKG and LAX?
2. What are the allowances paid downroute?
3. Can anybody provide an example of a roster for a typical months work?
4. Does NZ operate a standby period on the roster and if so, roughly what
does that look like?

Apologies for all these specifics! I have worked for an airline before, but not as crew.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Richard.

Hi all just some information for all looking at working for Air NZ LHR.

Two destinations LAX and HKG each flight once a day both on 747. Both trips are 4 days long from start to finish. Allowances are HKG$2900 cash at hotel and LAX is US$319 cash at hotel.

Standby is rostered on average once every 5 to 6 months for the full roster and sometimes a couple of days may be put into a flying roster to help build the hours. When on standby it is your responsibility to be within 90min call from Heathrow. Min rest is 2 local nights between trips with min 10 rostered days off per 28 day roster these days off can be in groups of 2 or more. It is hard to give exact details. Some rosters are very bussy ones and others give a lot of days off. Same with standby sometime bussy and sometimes not even one call out.

If you have experience flying then it is like many other airlines you just have to work with it to make it work for you. There is a bidding system that sometime helps to plan your life.

I hope this helps everyone out the to make a decision but a good idea is to first read the contract before you sign.

Good luck
