Any life advice welcome
Hi guys,
Just after a bit of advice, currently 22 flying the 737 just reached the 500 hour mark. I'm not really satisfied with my base and I joined this airline with the intention of building hours, having the potential for command in 3 years doesn't drastically appeal to me, especially not being based anywhere near home so I was after a few bits of advice. I've got the hours for BA given I'm non rated it would be Euroflyer, is it worth waiting longer and gaining the hours for long haul or am I better off going in ASAP? Anyone know if virgin are going to take Boeing FO's in future? I was also wondering how people get on at Jet2 and TUI etc, I'm in two minds whether I want to see the world when I'm young or whether I want a regional base and live in my home comforts. Holding on at my current airline and gaining the hours for the middle east carriers appeals to me slightly for salary, but I'm not too sure about it long term. What are the UK cargo airlines like? Any life stories / advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys! |
I suggest you stay where you are for another couple of years. Making big choices at 22 is perhaps too early. In another 2-3 years you will see your priorities more clearly.

Friend of mine's of similar age and has gone from 737s over to 777s with DHL, said he'd never go back to doing PAX now as it's so much easier!

The first rule of DHK is you don't talk about DHK... |
First I think you need to tone it down a little as you seem to have lost perspective.
You are 22 and fly a 73 with thousands of people out there that had to wait and struggle for years. Be humble, learn and keep your head down till you have 1500 hrs at the very least. Right now you just sound arrogant and ungrateful for the opportunity you’ve been given. |
