Bizjet job in Asia

Hi all, I'm coming from LCC world and trying to venture into bizjets but found little information about the industry in Asia (HK, Singapore, China or even Middle East).

1. Can anyone share the way to get into the Asian bizjet industry? Sent my CV to countless corporate operators but no reply.

2. I'm looking for a commuting lifestyle that is not so much being the norm in airlines in Asia now. Is it common to have commuting roster in corporate world in Asia? If so, what are the typical commuting roster pattern?

3. Any other information about pay scale/work/lifestyle working for corporate jet in Asia will be appreciated. Thanks!

Without experience on type and more importantly, experience of biz jet ops then I think you will continue to get no reply.

The actual flying is a small part of what we do and the shift from Airline is very steep.

It's not so steep, but you need to be VERY flexible... In airline flying, and LCC, Mr Captain is way more importartant than any lowly passenger.
In corporate the pax pay all the costs. They are VERY important to the operation. And there may be just one of them? Mr Captain is only the replacable chaufaur!
But more importantly you need friends in corporate. CV's are next to useless. No friends= no chance!

Hi Happyjack, thank you for the insight! Yes I understand the need to be very "flexible" in private operation, and I'm okay with it.

Anyway, regarding commuting contract? Is it quite common?

I have worked commuting contracts in EU Africa and Russia. The only Asian contract I was offered required relocation. But I did once know of large bizjet guys commuting from Europe to Thailand. Nowadays the contracts are too biased towards the operation for me (not enough time off) and Russia is of course history.

Thank you Happyjack!

How ironic it is, isn't it?
Without bizav experience, you are not able to gain bizav experience. Sounds like back in day when we were fresh 200h boys seeing only TR offers with 1000h on type required... :ugh:

I'm wondering how did all of you, now bizav experienced guys, gain your bizav experience in the first place? Honest question, no irony here.

By being lucky and finding an employer who did not care too much about our past and actually invited and screened us. Works only in bigger companies that hire dozens of pilots at the same time. Those small private operators are driven by recommendations, friends of friends. They don't want to spend 60k USD for a rating and then have the candidate run off after a few months, because he did not like the job, the company or the owner.

Many operators obviously poach from other operators. More money, more time off, better quality of life etc. I could name one large outfit flying Bombardier kit which is probably a good source of qualified pilots.

Sadly, most job ads in Asia have only one requirement. No type rating, no job. Simple as that.

Type rating

That is a frustrating aspect of job hunting outside the US apparently, even amongst Asian major airlines. Type rating is valued more than overall piloting experience, knowledge, skills and character of the applicants combined.

I was wondering... now even in Europe TR drivers for "basic" 737/320 types with some decent experience are becoming scarce goods... what is the present situation on the bizjet market among say Cessna/Challenger/Gulfstream pilots? Is there still plenty of TR guys looking for jobs with EASA license?

From what I know, hundreds of bizjet guys / gals were sacked as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and most them are still looking for a job.
