RVSM FAA Approval Timing

i recently acquired a Citation Excel. The pilot and the plane are both RVSM approved. The operator just put in the request for RVSM to allow us to fly at 41,000 feet. Flying at 27k feet is driving up our fuel bills, reducing range, and creating bumpier flights. Any idea how long it takes the FAA to approve RVSM applications/requests? Thank you.

I used to fly the Excel straight to FL430.
Wouldn't it be possible to at least cross RVSM airspace while the approval is pending?

The 'new' RVSM approval process is much streamlined, compared to previous years. Essentially you do all the work gathering the info, then submit an emailed .zip package to a central unit in OK. They quote 30 days, but I've seen an approval returned in 10.
