Can anyone guide me - going to Sydney in December - what are the Visa requirements for F/D and C/A ? Thanks

Hi.
Be careful. In the last sentence it says :

"People operating private flights into Australia are not eligible to register for a Crew Travel Authority (subclass 942)."

So being a Crew member on a Business Jet, Private or Charter OPS may not be entiteled for this VISA.

In our experience operating a privately registered Business jet to AUS the handler has applied and received our CTA's it is a very simple and quick process. PM if you require further info.

We have just been through this process as we are planning to be down under next month.

Don't Worry is correct, private flights are not eligible for CTA.
CTA applicable for commercial/charter flights.

Furthermore, if you plan to do any internal flights (Private) then the ball game changes.
You will be required to get a Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) Visa Sublclass 400.

ADG, Have you sought a second opinion on that Visa requirement for internal Private flights?

As long as you aren't flying for, and being paid by, an Australian company, I'm not sure that applies. Otherwise, anyone here for a business meeting, whilst being paid by their employer, would need such a visa and that's not the case. Its a given, that if you are here on business, you are being paid by your home-country employer.

I suspect there is little difference to entering Australia on a CTA for Commercial flights/Business visa for Private flights and entering the USA on a C1/D or B1/B2 in the same situations.

But then again, I don't work for Border Force. I'd ask your Handler to check and get it in writing.

Indeed have spoken with the Oz Embassy in the UK at great length and this visa applies to foreign based companies working/flying within Australia.

If we had planned a private flight to/from the same airport then this visa is not required.
But as we have some internal flights within Australia, we must carry a temporary work visa.

The evisa's have already been issued so hopefully we won't get deported!

Ok I have operated corporate jets in and out of Australia with only the online visa. On both occasions they were aircraft on commercial AOC if that makes any difference which I guess it could very well do.

We have completed 2 flights to OZ in the last 4 months on a privately registered and operated aircraft. First was Hawaii - Brisbane - Hawaii, second Hawaii - Brisbane - Sydney - Hong Kong. Hawker Pacific applied for and received our CTA's within 2 hours. No issues anywhere.

Mb, I have no reason to doubt you, but the advise we were given from the Oz Embassy and the website indicates;

A Crew Travel Authority (subclass 942) is an electronic immigration record against which the legal authority of international airline crew members to enter Australia can be checked electronically through the Advance Passenger Processing system before their flight to Australia. Crew members travel to and enter Australia on their Special Purpose visas.

International airline flights include commercial passenger flights, chartered passenger flights, and freight or cargo flights.
Crew members with Australian or New Zealand passports do not require Crew Travel Authorities.
People operating private flights into Australia are not eligible to register for a Crew Travel Authority (subclass 942).
