MNPS Old dog new trick

Hi guys,

I haven't flown across the pond for well over 25 years. From my reading so far much has changed. Although we have triple everything we do not have CPDLC and therefore, as I understand it, will not be allowed onto the tracks. If this is so then can we route via Keflavik etc? We'll route to Bangor for a technical then onward. Will we have to clear customs etc in Bangor or can that be done at final destination? Any help and or recent experience would be greatly appreciated.

No CPDLC no RLAT as I read, but tracks are allowed with HF only as 2 ways of communication.

Has to have MNPS for FL285-FL425.
If you choose to fly via keflavif you may not need HF at all and only ony LRNS.

My understanding....

You have a datalink mandate for tracks between FL350-390

Reduced lateral Sep, also FL350-390

MNPS as noted by imrioser.

So as long as you are compliant with MNPS, you simply have to keep out of the datalink mandate altitude bands, with HF you should be fine... I've certainly been along the tracks at FL410 with our satcom inop.

Maffi, what airplane will you take across the pond?

Gulfstream GIV=SP

What's the origin?
Assuming you leave the UK you can climb direct to 430 and then you don't care about RVSM/MNPS (or by its new name NATHLA)

Assuming you have one HF on board you can do it without overflying Kef...

The GIV comes with two NZ and combined with one HF that's the only requirement to fly "direct"
