Ferry Flying by PPL

Saw an advert where PPLs are offering free ferry flying with just transport costs charged.

Appreciate that a ferried aircraft is not hired but I didn't think it was legal to do that under a PPL?

Ferry Flying by PPL

Why on earth would an aircraft owner entrust his or her prized posession to anyone other than a professional pilot?

Why would they think a PPL advertising to ferry it for free, would be any more qualified to ferry it than they themselves?

Ferry flying is an industry that is borne out of people needing an aircraft relocating from often, one continent to another.

It often spans some of the most challenging terrain, weather, and red tape beuracracy that you could hope to encounter.

Where this not the case, then all owners would ferry their own aircraft.

Hope that helps.

Laymen are a raising problem for ferry flying. To pilot an unknown aircraft over some distance does require some professionalism and I am wondering who will hand over his probably one million pound plane to a PPL pilot of unknown skills?

and who'd insure it?

Yes, better go for professionals, like or friend Weaver;)
